Withstand in the Evil Day

Men are like the leaves. When inclement weather comes upon man, he begins to show his true colors. But man's true colors do not always bring glory to God. God lets us see how He sees man, and that is not always pretty. Sometimes what we see is downright ugly. But thanks be to God, He can change man's black heart and make him a new creation, so he can shine like the light in the firmament and bring glory to His Creator. In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul informs us:

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:13

We are to take on the whole armor of God. Why? We are to do this so we may withstand in the evil day. The word withstand means "to resist, to stand against, to oppose." We truly live in the evil day. Many things are coming against God's people. The government has legislated against everything we as Christians stand for. Most of the church system has capitulated to government control. They fear the ACLU more than they fear the God they are supposed to be serving. They talk more about the devil, then they do about the overcoming power of God in our lives. Somehow the church system has forgotten the Lord's words in I John 4:4, "Greater is he that is in thee, then he that is in the world."

Many in the church system have forgotten that to withstand the evil day, we must have our loins girt about with truth. We must have on our breastplate of righteousness. We must have our feet prepared and shod with the gospel of peace. We must be carrying our shield of faith in our God. Our head must be covered with salvation, and we must have the sword of the Spirit in our hand. We must be in all preparedness with these if we are going to be able to withstand the evil day in which we live.

As always in Christ,
