A Day of Rejoicing
As we see all the things that are coming upon the earth: the floods, the fires, the drought, our bees disappearing, the threat of new diseases, and old diseases we thought were eradicated raising their ugly head, the finances of the whole world, and especially the United States about to implode, and wars and rumors of war, it would be easy to say, "O woe is me!" And this is probably what the world is saying because those without Christ have no hope, no protection, and their outlook, if they are paying attention, must be one of gloom and doom.
But what of those whose hope is in Christ? We have God's assurance that our outlook is bright. We do know that tough times are coming and there may be hardships for the body of Christ. But these are not days of mourning, but the Day of Rejoicing because we know all the promises of God are just beyond the Day of Hardship. Peter proclaimed:
"But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." I Peter 4:13
When we are allowed to suffer for the cause of Christ we need to rejoice because God's glory will be revealed in our suffering, and we will be glad, with exceeding joy. Jesus informs us what our attitude should be when we are counted worthy of His suffering.
"Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake." Luke 6:22
What should our attitude be in these times? Shall we hang our heads and question God's loyality and promises? Absolutely not!
"Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets." Luke 6:23
You may say this is not natural to leap for joy and rejoice when the world, the religious system, and all the devils on earth come against you. You are absolutely right! This is not natural - - - it is supernatural because you know your God, His Word, and His promises. Hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus, the prophet Isaiah informed us:
"For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what He hath prepated for him that waiteth for Him." Isaiah 64:4
Since the beginning of the world, man has not seen, nor heard what God has planned for those who wait for Him. Paul quoted Isaiah in his letter to the Corinthians:
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." I Corinthians 2:9
It is only by and through the anointed Word, that we can begin to understand what God has planned for those who love Him. As God's Word states, "If you love Me, keep My commandments." We are given many signs in His Word that we are to look for to recognize the coming day of the Lord. Luke informs us:
"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Luke 21:28
God's redemption plan is in effect. We are to lift our heads, our hands, and our hearts because we know our redemption is on the horizon. Jesus also informs us:
"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready." Revelation 19:7
We are invited to His great Marriage Supper, but there is a getting ready process that we must be involved in. As Paul wrote to the Philippians:
"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice." Philippians 4:4
To the Thessalonians, he writes:
"Rejoice evermore." I Thessalonians 5:16
This is the day of rejoicing and getting ready for the redemption process to take place. Praise the Lord!
Let all the nations rejoice because of our coming King!
