                                                     Mother Nature

So often when something happens, we hear the term `mother nature did this' or `mother nature is at it again'. Mother nature is a new age term used to replace Father God. Mother nature does not exist. When this term is used it dethrones Father God. When a disaster happens, and one blames mother nature, then in essence, they are confessing with their mouth that Father God had nothing to do with the happening.

Another term we hear a lot is `the devil did this' or `the devil did that' or `the devil made me do it'. Again, when one gives the devil credit for what God is doing, they dethrone God in the situation. God uses many things to get the attention of His people such as storms, floods, fire, drought, and pestilence. We read in the book of Exodus:

"And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt." Exodus 9:23

If this happened today, we would probably hear someone say, `mother nature is angry again.' God did not have to call upon the devil or any other force to bring judgment upon Egypt. And He does not have to go outside Himself to bring judgment upon this wicked, godless nation, its people, or its government. James informs us of the prophet Elijah's answered prayer:

"Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit." James 5:17-18

Who did Elijah pray to? Did he pray to mother nature or the devil? No! He prayed to His Father God. He is the only one who can withhold the rain or send the rain. He is the one who created the clouds. When the rain was withheld in the time of Elijah, there was a great drought in the land of Israel. The brooks and rivers dried up, and there was no grass for the animals to feed upon. What God did once, He can, and will do again. The all-wise Solomon reminds us: "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there anything whereof it may be said, See, this is new? It hath been already of old time, which was before us." Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

You can bet Ahab was not calling upon mother nature when Elijah prayed and God the Father shut off the rain. Today the government is forewarning the people against the swine flu pandemic. Their purpose is to scare people into getting their flu shots. There are already reports of this flu vaccine being tainted. Those who take these flu shots can become very sick, and many will probably die; especially the very young and the very old. Others will suffer debilitating sickness. This could become a way of decreasing the population. The only weapon the government can use against the people is fear. But God gave us a promise in the book of Exodus:

"And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee." Exodus 15:26

Here is a warning. Do not let the government's fear induce you to get their tainted flu shots. Instead of getting the shot, call upon God the Father who promises He will not put any of these diseases on us which He put on the Egyptians (the world). It is our God who heals His people. The prophet Jeremiah foretells us that God is our Great Physician who heals His people:

"Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of My people recovered?" Jeremiah 8:22

The daughters of God's ancient people are the New Testament church, those who are anointed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Jeremiah asks, "Is there no balm (medicine) in Gilead?" The word Gilead means "heap of witnesses." What Jeremiah was asking was, "Is there no healing power in God's heap of witnesses?" "Is there no physician (one who can pray for healing)?" Then Jeremiah asks, "Why is the health of My church not recovered?" The answer should be plain. It is because the church no longer believes in the power of God to heal. They would rather blame mother nature or the devil for their sickness.
