Teaching the Everlasting Gospel of God's Kingdom
As Nahum of old, we need to ask: Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid? The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.” Nahum 2:11-12. Who are these ravenous beasts in the earth today? Could it be today’s shepherds? Zechariah tells us:
“There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled,” Zechariah 11:3.
Have today’s shepherds become roaring lions? Zechariah continues this sad pronouncement:
“For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces,” Zechariah 11:16.
Is this the state of the shepherds in today’s church system - - - pastors who will not visit those that are cut off, neither seek the young, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed the flock - - - but instead are devouring the flesh of the flock and tearing them to pieces? Nahum also reveals these messengers:
“Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard, Nahum 2:13.
Many messengers in today’s apostate church system are as ravenous lions devouring the prey. Isaiah speaks to today’s lion shepherds?
“What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts,” Isaiah 3:15
“But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore,” Isaiah 42:22.
Where is the message of Restoration in today’s church system? Beloved, begin today, to proclaim Restoration! [see “The Coming Day of Restoration” by George Kirkpatrick]
Jeremiah also knew the state of today’s church system, and declared:
“Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel,” Jeremiah 25:34.
“He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger,” Jeremiah 25:38.
These are forsaking the flock as the lion. John warns us against these, who are called ‘hirelings’.
“But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep, John 10:12.
Daniel discovered the lion’s den - - - and praise the Lord, he discovered God’s protection from the mouths of the lions.
“. . . O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? He delivereth and rescueth, and He worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions,” Daniel 6:20 and 27.
Beloved become a Daniel. There is nothing to fear from the lion’s den. God, even our God, will deliver us. Praise the Lord!
As Daniel, David overcame the lion, and we, too, must overcome the king of beasts, the liers in wait, the ravenous beasts in the church today. David knew where his strength was:
“Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied. But I will sing of Thy power; Yea, I will sing aloud of Thy mercy in the morning: for Thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble,”Psalm 59:15-16.
Sing aloud, church. No ravenous beast shall walk into God’s coming Kingdom.
Hear Isaiah’s proclamation:
“No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” Isaiah 35:9-10.
Hear Jeremiah’s proclamation:
“Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase, and I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:2-4 Amen!
Zechariah speaks to God’s leaders today, “Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter,” Zechariah 11:4.
