Speak My Word!
"And the spirit entered into me when He spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard Him that spake unto me.  And He said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.  For they are impudent children and stiffhearted.  I do send thee unto them; and Thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God.  And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear (for they are a rebellious hose), ye shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.  And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions:  be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.  And thou shalt speak My words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear:  for they are most rebellious.  But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee." Ezekiel 2:2-8

In verse eight, God warns all who will hear that we are not to be rebellious like that rebellious house.  We live in a rebellious nation where many of God's people have turned there backs on Him and have walked away and are living in sin. Many are allowing worldly lusts, desires, and  possessions to be their gods.  Many who call themselves Christians trust more in money than they do in God.  Many live in fear of disaster, theft, disease, failure, government, and so many other things instead of having the fear of God and trusting and believing in Him.

In verse seven, God gives us a job to do - - -  and that is to speak His words.  Whether others hear or forbear, we must speak His words - - - even if those words are hard to say - - - and even if they are words of God's coming judgement.   Like Ezekiel, we must be obedient:

"Moreover He said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.  So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that roll.  And He said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee.  Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.  And He said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with My words unto them.  For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;" Ezekiel 3:1-5

What is this roll that we, as Ezekiel, must eat?  This roll is the Word of God.  We must fill ourselves with the Word of God by reading everyday and listening to His still small voice. But to do that we must be quiet, alone, taking time out of our busy schedule everyday to be with God; and having His praises and His Word on our hearts all day, so that we may minister to the house of Israel.  The house of Israel is not a geographical place.  It is the children of God.  Ezekiel 3:5 says we are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language but, to the house of Israel.  This Word, God has given us (the Bible) was not written for the heathen,  but for the house of God.

The book of Revelation speaks of this roll as a little book:

"And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the Angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.  And I went unto the Angel, and said unto Him, Give me the little book.  And He said unto me,  Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.  And I took the little book out ot the Angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey:  and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.  And He said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings." Revelation 10:8-11

When we eat God's Word it is sweet in our mouth - - - but when we have to give judgment it becomes hard to do because we know people will come against us and mock us and hate us - - - and who wants that, right? But we must be prepared to give judgment.  God gives Jeremiah, and us also, the words we must speak to this generation:

"For thus saith the Lord God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.  And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.  Then took I the cup at the Lord's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the Lord had sent me:  To wit, Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes therof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;" Jeremiah 25:15-18

Whomever God shows us to speak His Word of judgment to from His Word, we must obey or we might be like Jonah.

"Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.  So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord.  Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.  And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown." Jonah 3:2-4

We must be willing as Job to proclaim God's Word:

"But He knowth the way that I take:  when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.  My foot hath held His steps, His way have I kept, and not declined.  Neither have I gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed the words of His mouth more than my necessary food." Job 23:10-12

The trials and tribulations we go through in our lives are to purify our hearts, so that we may come forth as gold in this last hour of time. The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest, Matthew 9:37-38. I pray each one of you take more and more time with God and His Word.  We must esteem the words of His mouth more than our necessary food.
