Teaching the Everlasting Gospel of God's Kingdom
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers. Peacemakers mean freedom from war or strife. Freedom from disagreement or quarrels. It also means harmony, calm, quiet, and one who promotes peace. Jesus said that the peacemakers shall be called the Sons of God.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.” Isaiah 26:3 The word “stayed” means to be steadfast, establish, take hold, and sustain. Perfect peace will be given to those who stand fast and have their minds on the Lord.
The world and many of God's people do not have this perfect peace because their minds (thoughts) are on other things. Isaiah 48:22 says
“There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.” The wicked here means the wicked man and the old man.
create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off,
and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him But
the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose
waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to
the wicked.” Isaiah 57:19-21
Isaiah tells us in verse 19 that the Lord creates the fruit of the lips. That fruit is the Fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace....... The peace of God brings healing to our soul. Isaiah tells us in verse 20: “But the wicked are like the troubled sea. It cannot rest. They are always casting up mire and dirt.” What are your lips speaking? Are they speaking fruit or are they speaking mire and dirt? The troubled sea becomes muddy with the mire and dirt. Because of this, there is no clear vision in the water of the Word.
“But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?” James 3:8-11
you want rest and peace then beware of what your lips are speaking.
“If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.” Proverbs 29:9
The word “contendeth” in this verse means to strive in debate or controversy, argue, dispute and to compete. Whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest for those who contend with one another. A wise man needs to stay away from the arguing and debates. We don't have to get the last word in when we are standing in the clear water.
“And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure. Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.” Isaiah 33:6-7
Do you want to be stable during times of trouble or do you want to be like the ambassadors of peace who weep bitterly?
“But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.” I Thessalonians 5:1-4
Paul tells us in verse 3 that when they shall say peace and safety then sudden destruction comes. When the world says peace and safety, then we know that destruction cometh. He tells us verse 4 that we brethren are not in darkness. Those in darkness will believe in a false hope of peace and safety. We need to know that there will be no peace and safety until the Prince of Peace comes back to the earth.
“And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.” Revelation 6:3-4
The second seal has been opened up for quite a while. Killing and violence is running rampant in the earth today. These two things have taken the peace from the earth.
“And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” James 3:18 To obtain peace and keep it you must have the fruit of righteousness sown in peace in you. This is the only way we can be peacemakers. The kingdoms of this world try to bring peace on earth by intimidating their strength upon one another. But we know that there will be no peace by this means. Only by the ways of God can we be a Peacemaker. Robert Bixler
