Teaching the Everlasting Gospel of God's Kingdom
“The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; and the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.” Joel 1:12
Has your JOY withered away like the JOY spoken of here in Joel? Paul tells us in Galatians 5:22 that JOY is a fruit of the spirit. So we see in Joel 1:12 that the fruit of JOY has dried up in God's people. Instead of bringing forth fruit, the tree's are withering away. The tree's have become weak and exhausted. Doubt and sadness have crept into His people. They therefore can no longer produce fruit for others to partake of.
“And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the Word, and it becometh unfruitful.” Mark 4:19
Have you allowed the cares of this world and the lusts of other things to enter into your life and take dominion of your life? Have you become unfruitful to the Father and to everyone around you and to yourself too? Does it feel like you are in a pit and there is no way out?
Many have lost the JOY of the Lord because they have lost their closeness to the Lord. We need to get into our closet (a quiet place) and seek Him with our whole heart, humbling ourselves and drawing close to His voice in our life.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God: and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the JOY of Thy salvation: and uphold me with Thy free spirit.” Psalm 51:10-12
David wanted that closeness with the Father. He wanted to be in is presence. He knew that the Holy Spirit in his life would keep him in the JOY of the Lord. You too, can experience this same thing and have God's JOY in you. You simply need to cry out to God and ask for that clean heart and right spirit. Ask for His JOY to be restored in you.
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:1-3
We need to keep ourselves from the ungodly, the sinners, and the scornful. Our delight is in the law of the Lord. When our mind is stayed on Him day and night, then He promises us that we will produce fruit and not whither away. That fruit produced will be our JOY and strength.
Let the JOY of the Lord be your strength this coming year.Keith Huff
