Teaching the Everlasting Gospel of God's Kingdom
The Love of Many Shall Wax Cold
Many are missing the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Paul says to “.... press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:14. The prize is the High Calling of God in our life. God has invited us to a Higher place in the Spiritual realm.
Paul tells us: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth,” Colossians 3:1-2. To hit the mark, our mind needs to be focused on the things above, not on things on this earth. Mark tells us that “....the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the Word, and it becometh unfruitful,” Mark 4:19. Because the mind is on these earthly things the Word of God is being suffocated in God's heritage. God's people are becoming unfruitful, with no fruit of the Spirit is in their lives.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:12, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” We need to check ourselves, Do we have love in our heart? Or are we like those spoken of in Revelation 2:4 “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”
Do you remember when you first came to God and His love for you? How our heart was filled with love for God. Do we still have this strong love for God in our heart, or do we have some hard feelings toward God for what He is doing in our life?
“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently,” I Peter 1:22. Do we have a sincere love for our brothers and sisters in the Lord, or do we have some hard feelings towards a brother or sister?
“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matthew 5:43-44. Do we love our enemies or do we have hard feelings towards someone who has come against us? We can not let our love wax cold. REPENT and FORGIVE. Repent before God, and forgive your brothers and sisters. Pray for your enemies.
A heart filled with love is a clean heart. In Psalm 119:165 we are told, “Great peace have they which love thy law, and nothing shall offend them.” If you want that clean, pure heart then you must stay in His Word and return back to that first love that you had for God; and let that love filter out unto the Lord and unto your brothers and sisters.
“That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by is Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God,” Ephesians 3:16-19.
