Teaching the Everlasting Gospel of God's Kingdom
Create In Me A Clean Heart, O God
“And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them. And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them save all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean”. Numbers 8:5-7
The Levites were to be taken from the children of Israel and cleansed. Cleansed here means “to be clean(physically – of disease), to be clean ceremonially, to purify, be clean morally, purge, pure and purifer”. How clean and pure are you before the Lord?
To cleanse oneself, vs 7 tells us to sprinkle water of purifying upon themselves. Water here is the Word of God. The Word is the only pure water we can partake of. We can get a sprinkling of God's Word at church on Sunday from our pastor. This is great, BUT as we read on in vs 7, the Lord tells Moses to wash their clothes and make themselves clean. Our clothes are our robe of righteousness. Is your robe of righteousness white as snow or does it have spots and wrinkles in it?
So many of God's people get a sprinkling of God's Word on Sunday and then nothing the rest of the week. God is wanting a people to cleanse themselves. In order to do this, we must immerse ourselves in His Word. We can't become clean by simply being sprinkled with water. We must bathe or shower ourselves in His Word daily to become purged and pure.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation: and uphold me with Thy free spirit”. Psalm 51:10-12
The only way we can be washed from our iniquities and cleansed from our sins is to CHANGE. No one likes change, but Reading His Word will not make us clean. We must wash away our old fleshly man, our ways of sin: anger, wrath, the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. Vs. 10 says to “Create in me a Clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. This is a renewing of the mind (heart, our way of thinking). This only comes by Change. This means saying: I WILL overcome sin in my life. Not only do you need to say it, but you must do it too. Be a doer of the Word, not just a hearer only.
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So ten they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of is”. Romans 8:6-9
God gives us His peace. If we don't have peace in our hearts then we must look inward in our heart (mind) to see what part of our carnal mind needs change. If our carnal mind is running our lives we can't please God.
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the Master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, and them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart”. 2 Timothy 2:20-22
The house that we should be concerned about is our house; our walk in God. We must purge ourselves from those things in our lives which dishonor the Lord. Purge means: to make clean, cleanse, to free from defilement of sin and from faults, to free from guilt of sin. When we purge ourselves then and only then will we be sanctified and meet for the Master's use.
“But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appeareth? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap: And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness”. Malachi 3:2-3
In order to abide the day of His coming, we need to purify our hearts now. To purge gold and silver it must be heated very hot. This is when all the impurities come to the top to be taken out. If we don't take the time now to get rid of the impurities in our live then God will have to turn up the heat in our lives and we may not be able to stand in the day of His coming. Our lives are our offering unto the Lord. Will your life be an offering of righteousness or will you hear “Get away, I never knew you”.
“And He saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still”. Revelation 22:10-11
Time is short. We must cleanse our bodies, our minds, and our robe or righteousness now before it it too late. Robert Bixler
