Vital Words to the

Teaching the Everlasting Gospel of God's Kingdom
“His watchman are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter” Isaiah 56:10-11.
Isaiah says that the watchmen are blind. Who are these watchmen? They are those who call themselves “christians”. A watchman is a person who watches over and keeps watch of things. Blind here means “ignorance, as to spiritual things”. So Isaiah is saying that God's people are spiritually blind and dumb (mute). They cannot bark or speak. If God's people are spiritually blind then they have no spiritual understanding to speak or preach His spiritual Word. They are spiritually asleep.
Our lives are very busy. We are so busy trying to make our mark on this world, that we don't take the extra time to read, study, and search out His Word, or take the time to pray unless we want something. Our minds should continually be on Him.
“I have set a watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth” Isaiah 62:6-7.
Are you going to be one of those watchmen who will never hold their peace. We must reveal the spiritual understanding of His Word and not be silent.
“Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Also I set watchmen over you saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto My words, nor to My law, but rejected it” Jeremiah 6:16-19.
Your first reaction after reading this verse will probably be I would never say “I would not hearken” or “I would not reject His Words”. But every day that we do not live His Word or abide by or trust in His Word, we are rejecting and not hearkening to His Word. Our actions speak louder than our words.
“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: “ Ephesians 4:17-18.
If we, as Christians, live and walk the same as the Gentiles (those not walking with God, heathen), then our understanding (spiritual enlightenment) will be darkened and we will be alienated from the life of God. This is because of the blindness (hardness, to cover, with a callus) of their heart ( mind). We, as Christians, tend to not want to change our way of life. We get stuck in a rut doing the same old thing day after day. God desires us to change our lives. He wants us to be more and more like Him every day.
“Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. Who is blind, but My servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? Who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the Lord's servant? Seeing many things, but thou observest not opening the ears, but he heareth not. The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness' sake; He will magnify the law, and make it honorable. But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore. Who among you will give ear to this? Who will hearken and hear for the time to come” Isaiah 42:18-23.
We see that it is His servant, His messenger, His people that are blind and deaf. They are spiritually blind and deaf because they have been robbed and spoiled. How? The pastors and teachers are teaching the precepts and doctrine of men, instead of the true Word of God. They are teaching those things that tickle the ears of the people, and things that don't require a person to change. Because of this there is no deliverance, no restoration, no change, nor any overcoming in their lives. God is looking for a people who will hearken and hear for the time to come.
“For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes; the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath He covered. And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid” Isaiah 29-10-14.
We need to ask ourselves if we are unlearned. Can we see and hear the spiritual truths in His Word? God is wanting us to hear and see His truths daily. He wants us to go on in Him. Prepare your heart (mind) daily to see and hear His truths and CHANGE. Robert Bixler
