Many today are wondering what has happened to this nation, the world, and the church. The basic reason things have come to this state of affairs is because the people in this nation, the world, and especially in the church have lost their fear of God. This nation was founded on the Word of God, and most of those who were responsible for the foundation of this nation feared God. We also know there were a few agnostics, but those who feared God overrode most of the agnostic's suggestions. But today the agnostics and atheists have their say in most all decisions made in this nation, the world, and yes even in the church.

When this nation was founded, the only system of government the people had previously known and understood was of being ruled by a king. So when George Washington was chosen to lead this nation, the people wanted to make him king. But George's remark was, "This nation has but one King, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ." George Washington feared God, and when he was fighting the revolution he would kneel and pray before his men, before each battle.

But those who are in charge of government today, storm through life with no fear of God. They only fear their puppet masters, and those who hold the purse strings to finance their corruption. What can this nation expect, when its President sat under a pastor for twenty years, who used the name of God to curse this nation? Where was his fear of God?

Today, those who are elected to represent the people become so vile and corrupt, they no longer hear the voice of the people. Instead, they make their deals and do as the money grabbers direct them to do. These have no fear of God or the people. They believe, because of their position, they are above the people.

Many who stand in the pulpits today have no fear at all of God. When the heads of national Christian organizations are accused of being sodomites, what can we expect these men to accomplish? Where is their fear of God? When innocent children are sodomized by those who are called `men of the cloth', where is their fear of God? When the leaders of the church lay with the women, they become like Hophni and Phinehaz, Eli's sons, who lay with the women at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, whom God destroyed, I Samuel 2:22. Can these expect any less judgment on their lusts. Many pastors justify this sin by stating these women are their 'spiritual soul mates'. This is supposed to make it all right. They never think about what God thinks of their lust of the flesh. Paul summed up their acts very clearly in his letter to the Romans:

"There is no fear of God before their eyes." Romans 3:18

Where there is no fear of God, all one thinks of is satisfying their sensual desires, which keeps them from rising above their beast nature. When this nation, the world, and the church loses its fear of God, can judgment be far off?

What will be the end of those who have lost the fear of their Creator? What will become of those who do not believe God will judge their sin? We read in the book of Genesis about Abraham when he sojourned in Gerar, where Abimeleck was king. Abraham was willing to allow Abimelech to take his wife Sarah into his harem, telling the king she was his sister. Why did Abraham do this? Abraham explained:

". . . Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake." Genesis 20:11

Because there was no fear of God in Gerar, Abraham knew he was in danger of being murdered because Abimelech wanted Sarah. We witness this lack of fear of God in our nation, the world, and yes, even in the church today. This precipitates lying, every vile sin, and even murder. The psalmist, David, when he was fleeing from Saul, proclaimed:

"The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes." Psalm 36:1

The wicked have no fear of God in their hearts. This is why they do these vile, wicked things. Lying has become a way of life in this nation, the world, and even in the church. If they can justify lying, they can also explain away murder and every other corruptible act.

The prophet Ezekiel explained it very well when he spoke of the abominations in secret chambers. Today, these same abominations are in the government, the world, and especially in the church. God showed Ezekiel in a vision of all the abominations in this nation, in the world, and in the church. Christ Jesus appeared to Ezekiel while he sat in his house with the elders of Judah sitting before him:

"Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of His loins even downward, fire; and from His loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber." Ezekiel 8:2

This is the same description given of Christ Jesus throughout the Bible.

"And He put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy." Ezekiel 8:3

In this vision, God took Ezekiel up between the earth and heaven, and showed him the inner gate of Jerusalem that faced toward the north. North always represents the throne of God. Jerusalem represents the place of true worship. The true place of worship should be the church. What did God show Ezekiel in this vision? He showed him the image of jealousy. Jealousy runs rampid and unrestrained in the earth today, both in our nation, the world, and especially in the church. Jealousy is a spirit. Men are jealous of another man's size, his position, his build, and what he owns. Because of their jealousy, men lust after other men's wives. The word lust means "to desire and covet." Jesus warns against this abomination:

"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." Matthew 5:28

Those who lust after another man's wife are guilty of adultery. This is also running unrestrained in our government. Jealousy is also in the church. One pastor is jealous of another pastor's church. The women are jealous if another woman has nicer clothes than they do. Men are jealous if another man has a nicer car or bigger and better house than they do. These things ought not to be so. But all this exists because there is no fear of God in their lives.

"He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from My sanctuary? But turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations." Ezekiel 8:6

The things God showed Ezekiel in this vision are abominations unto Him - - - which includes all the things that provoke jealousy, and all the lusts of the flesh that lead to adultery.

"And He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. Then said He unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door." Ezekiel 8:7-8

God has brought us to this wall, and we are going to dig through this wall, open the door, and go in to view all the abominations in these secret chambers. We are going to look at these abominations in the government of this nation and in the church. Ezekiel continues his revelation:

"And He said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about." Ezekiel 8:9-10

As we enter into these secret chambers, we witness all the abominations the government worships. They have systematically removed all the symbols of God, replacing them with pictures that do not glorify God.

Most of the idols ancient Israel worshiped were gods of sex and wealth. How this describes what is going on in government today. All they think about is getting rich, and having sex with every woman that comes along. Alcohol and drug abuse is also rampant, as is sodomy.

When we look at the abominations in the church system, what do we see when Halloween comes around? Many churches have their house of horrors where they display every creeping thing they can to scare the children. They display skulls, skeletons, snakes, witches, and many other vile, corruptible things - - - all to entertain the children. What an abomination to our God.

Many parents, and the church teach their children about Easter bunnies and Santa Claus. All these are lies that are told to the children. Then when they get older, and realize these are lies, they reject God as being a lie, also. They cannot see Him, just as they cannot see the Easter bunny or Santa Claus.

Then in the South, there are `snake handling churches', where they handle poisonous snakes to show their faith. These overlook the Scripture which states:

"Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." Matthew 4:7

They perform these acts to try to force God to prove His Word when Jesus said:

"They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Mark 16:18

Jesus did not say this, thinking anyone would be foolish enough to make a religion out of all this to tempt Him. Many have died performing this foolish act. Their death is explained away, as their not having enough faith, or there was sin in their life.

Ezekiel also stated that the people displayed all the idols of Israel on their walls in their secret chambers. What are the idols that are displayed on the walls of our children's rooms today? It is images (pictures) of their favorite rock or rap stars. These are all satanic. Even the sports stars they display are constantly in trouble with the law for their drug use, alcohol abuse, rape, gun possession, and many other crimes which all are an abomination to God.

But one of the biggest abominations is when the pastors and boards of churches allow `Christian Rock' to draw the young children into their midst. Rock and roll is an abomination to our God, no matter what theme they use. [see "The Amazing Power of Music" by Jack Wheaton]

Ezekiel continues to show us more abominations in secret places:

"And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. Then said He unto me, son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, The Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth." Ezekiel 8:11-12

Burning incense in a censor is an act of worship. In the Bible it is called `strange fire'. Aaron had two sons who offered strange fire before the Lord:

"And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the Lord." Numbers 26:61

Those in government who worship their position, recognition, and honor may not burn incense in a censer, but they still offer strange fire before God by their opulent way of life. Their greed, lust, and crooked dealings are an abomination before God because they worship self, more than they fear God.

In the time of Christ, the Sanhedrin were the leaders in Israel. The leaders in the church today are called 'elders, deacons, pastors, and preachers'. These titles signify leadership. What are some of the things the leaders in the church worship today? Many worship greed, lust, and corruption. This puts us in mind of Esau, who sold his birthright for a bowl of lentil soup. Many of God's leaders in the church system today have sold their birthright in God for a pile of dollars that will fail, or for fool-hearty promises that will mean nothing when they stand before God. All these corrupt thoughts are in the secret chambers of their imaginations.

So, what other abominations do the leaders in the churches worship today? Many desire bigger and more opulent buildings, more people, more money, and more recognition. Many are more interested in what man thinks of them, than what God thinks of them. Many who accept the job of pastor desire a bigger or more spacious parsonage, or at least a remodeling of the existing parsonage. They desire retirement plans, vacation plans, and even stock options. As Jesus stated, these hirelings care nothing for the flock, they only look at their position as a job. This is what is going on in the secret chambers of their imaginations.  To those who are leaders in the government and the church, Jesus declares:

"O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." Matthew 12:34

Every Sunday, the people are bombarded with the need for more money to pay for the new church building, or the one that is planned. It is time for those who attend these churches to begin to hear the Words of life for a change, and be warned of the things that are coming upon the earth.

Congress is no different. Every time they meet, all they want to do is spend more money on unneeded and unwanted projects. They do this to prove they are needed, and they speak out of the abundance of their hearts anything they can imagine.

As we look through the door into this secret chamber, what else do we see? We see the leaders of the government and the church bowing down to all the worldly things to satisfy the old, beast nature. Peter understood those who worship the beast nature:

"But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption:" II Peter 2:12

This is written to the leaders in the government and to the leaders in the church. Peter says these natural brute beasts will perish in their own corruption (moral decay). As Ezekiel states, they believe the Lord does not see them, because they believe the Lord has forsaken the earth. These have fooled themselves into thinking that God has nothing to do with their lives, or anything else.

Where are God's true leaders, such as the prophet Jeremiah, who are proclaiming God's coming judgment upon this generation? Hear Jeremiah's warning:

"Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely. O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? Thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds." Jeremiah 5:1 - 5

Jeremiah proclaimed what will happen to the leaders in the church and in the government who do not declare God's judgment on this generation.

Ezekiel continues to show us what is behind the door of the secret chambers:

"He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do. Then He brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz." Ezekiel 8:13-14

First we need to recognize who Tammuz was. In mythology, Tammuz was the son of Ishtar, who was the Babylonian goddess of sex and plenty. Those who worshiped Ishtar would bring their gifts of produce and money to the temple of Ishtar. Those who brought gifts to Ishtrar could then partake of the temple prostitutes.

Tammuz, the son of Ishtar, was to have been killed, and resurrected in the spring season. He then became the symbol of new life. Tammuz was also considered to be a `fertility god'. The Catholic Church made a statute of Ishtar holding Tammuz and called it the Madonna. They worship the Madonna as to portray Mary holding Jesus. But in reality, they are actually worshiping the false gods of Ishtar and Tammuz. Ishtar is where the name of `Easter' originated. Those who celebrate Easter think they are worshiping the resurrection of Jesus, but Easter is actually the worshiping of the resurrection of Ishtar's son, Tammuz.

Ancient manuscripts tell us the exact day Jesus was resurrected. So if we were celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, we would do it on the proper date. Then why doesn't Easter come on a certain day? Instead, Easter is celebrated as early as the end of March and as late as the month of May. So, in reality, Easter is the celebration of the coming of the vernal equinox which, in reality, celebrates the coming `new life'. That is why Easter is celebrated with Easter bunnies and colored eggs, both signs of fertility and reproduction - - - and this ritual originated with the worship of Ishtar and the resurrection of her son, Tammuz - - - not the resurrection of Jesus.

Why did Ezekiel state that the women were weeping for Tammuz? Weeping always signifies the loss of something. Why were the women weeping for what they had lost? For centuries, women were put on pedestals and honored as the givers of life. But now women desire to take the place of the man in every area of life. Women today desire to be the head of the house, pastor churches, head up companies, become truck drives, newscasters, sportscasters, financial analysts, serve along side of men in the military, and even want to referee in sports events. Young girls are taught in school that `women rule." Today's women no longer want to be equal with men, they desire to be superior to men. It is sorry to say, but they are succeeding.

So, why are the women weeping? They are weeping, because down deep they desire the position they have lost in their marriage, in the church, and in the work place. God forbade women to dress like men. But to perform the tasks they desire today, it became necessary for them to wear men's clothing. In the military, women wear the same uniform as the men. The same is true with truck drivers, referees in sport's events, and many other job related positions. This is an abomination to our God. It is said that if a woman is the head of the house, she `wears the pants in the family'. In reality, the women are weeping for Tammuz because they are looking for new life in their old existence.

"Then said He unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. And He brought me into the inner court of the Lord's house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; and they worshiped the sun toward the east." Ezekiel 8:15-16

This practice of worshiping the sun toward the east is called the Easter sunrise service. Today, churches around the world celebrate this abomination unto God, year after year. In reality, the modern church today is celebrating the resurrection of Tammuz, not the Lord Jesus. To prove this we need to look to the words of John:

"The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre." John 20:1

When Mary Magdalene got to the tomb, it was still dark, and the stone had already been rolled away, and Jesus had already been resurrected. This tells us Jesus was not resurrected at sunrise. He was resurrected sometime during the night. So, those who stand with their backs to the temple, worshiping the rising sun are an abomination to God. What further abominations did God show Ezekiel?

"Then He said unto me, hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke Me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose." Ezekiel 8:17

Every type of violence has pervaded our life today, through movies, news programs, magazines, television, and newspapers. As we read the Word, we understand this was one of the main reasons God destroyed the earth at the time of the flood:

"The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before Me: for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth." Genesis 6:11 & 13

Yes, God destroyed all flesh upon the earth, not only because the earth was filled with violence, but also because it was corrupt before Him. The word corrupt means "to pervert and corrupt morality." Today the government is corrupt to the core. Why? It is because they have lost their fear of God. Corruption has also invaded the church. Perverted sex has entered the church, along with lying and cheating. We need to ask ourselves, "What will be the end of all this violence and corruption?"

Ezekiel stated, they have provoked God to anger because they put a branch to their nose. Putting the branch to the nose was an idolatrous act, showing contempt for God and all He stood for. The word branch is translated as "branch, twig, or shoot." This idolatrous act was picked up by the Africans, who put a stick or twig through their nose for the purpose of enhancing their beauty to the opposite sex. This custom traveled to India, where they used nose jewels instead of sticks or twigs. When the hippies of the sixties traveled to India, they picked up this custom, to show their open contempt for all conservative ideas. Today we see these nose jewels worn, not only by women, but by sports stars, rock and rap stars; and yes, they are even seen in the church. No matter how they are worn, it is still a sign of putting a branch to the nose. Moses spoke to ancient Israel concerning what is not pleasing before God:

"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord." Leviticus 19:28

The word cut in the Webster's Dictionary means "to pierce with a sharp object." When God stated we were to make no cuttings in the body, this includes nose piercing, lip piercing, and tongue piercing. The teens, both girls and boys, wear rings in their noses. Rings are put in hogs' noses to keep them from rooting.

God also stated man was not to make marks upon his body. Yet, in sports and rock and rap music circles, all you see is tattoos. Many women also get tattoos, which are only to show how tough they are. Tattoos were always a manly thing, but now women get them to prove they are equal with men. All this proves there is no fear of God in their lives. Because of these vile acts, those who participate in them are of an abomination to our God. Christ Jesus spoke to Ezekiel in His anger:

"Therefore will I also deal in fury: Mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in Mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them." Ezekiel 8:18

When a person becomes vile, God will turn them over to a reprobate mind. At that point, God will close His ears to their prayers, to their weeping, and to their cries of repentance. When man has come to this place, his heart has hardened to the point where he no longer has any fear of God. Then God will pour out His judgment upon all their sin - - - - whether they be in the world, in the government, or in the church. Peter informs us of what we can expect if we turn our backs on God:

"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" I Peter 4:17

Peter warns that judgment will begin at the house of God, but it will not end there. After He judges His house, then His judgment will proceed to the government and to the world. God's judgment will be upon all those who do not obey the gospel. Then Peter asks, "What shall be the end of them?" Yes, God is going to cut off all those who are guilty of these abominations. All who believe they are above and better than God will suffer a terrible end.

Ezekiel did not stop with exposing the abominations in secret chambers. He went on to show their end:

"He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand." Ezekiel 9:1

Who are these who are given destroying weapons to execute God's judgment? In order to understand what Ezekiel is speaking, we must recognize who has charge over the city, and what city He is speaking of. The city God was showing Ezekiel was Jerusalem. In the Bible we are shown two Jerusalems. Paul explained in his letter to the Galatians:

"For this Agar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children." Galatians 4:25

The Jerusalem which now is, is in bondage with her children. This is the physical land of Israel which now exists in the Middle East.

"But the Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all." Galatians 4:26

But the Jerusalem which is above is the New Jerusalem. And that Jerusalem is free. It is free from all the crime, greed, lust, and corruption of the world. So, who is in charge of this Holy City of God? God has a special people who are going to make up this city. Who are these?

"But ye are come unto Mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels," Hebrews 12:22

New Jerusalem is the city of the living God. The Scriptures tell us this city will contain an innumerable company of angels. The word angels in this passage means "messengers of God." These are not angelic beings, but men who are the messengers of God who warn the people of His coming judgment. God showed John this Holy City on the Isle of Patmos:

"And He carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God," Revelation 21:10

John was carried away to a great and high mountain. There he saw the Holy City and those who inhabited the Holy City being manifest in the earth realm. These are the Spiritual sons of God.

"For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God." Romans 8:19

The word manifestation means "revealed; concerning things unknown and appearing." Beloved, we need to rejoice in the fact that God is raising up His sons in the wilderness who will be made manifest for the entire world to see. These are those who will be given charge of His Holy City. Ezekiel continues:

"And behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar." Ezekiel 9:1-2

These six men came from the higher gate. A gate is an entrance to something or some one. This gate faced the north, or toward the throne of God. These men were each armed with a slaughter weapon in their hands. Along with these six men was a seventh man who was clothed in linen, and he had a writer's inkhorn by his side. So he was a writer.

These seven men went in through the gate and stood by the brasen altar. The brazen altar is in the Outer Court of the Tabernacle. What are we to see in this illustration? The writers are those who have warned the people of the judgment that is coming upon all those who have committed abominations in their secret chambers.

"And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon He was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side;" Ezekiel 9:3

The glory of God was gone up from the cherub. The cherubim are above the Mercy Seat, and always protect the holiness of God. He was at the threshold of the house. What house? The house was the temple of the living God. There he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side.

"And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof." Ezekiel 9:4

The man with the writer's inkhorn was to go through the midst of the city and mark the foreheads of all the men who sighed and cried for the abominations that were being done there. The word sigh means "to mourn, groan, and be in pain." The word cry means "to lament, to make lamentations." These men were lamenting for what was being done in secret chambers.

If we look at what is going on in the government and in the organized church today, it is easy to see why men would sigh, mourn, and groan for what they see. The church has become so lukewarm, it is hard to recognize what God intended it to be. Jesus warned John on the Isle of Patmos what He would do with this lukewarm church:

"So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth." Revelation 3:16

The word spue means "to vomit." This goes to show us that God is sick of the lukewarmness of the church and the people in it. He is sick of the church because of the abominations that are in their midst with all their traditional celebrations. We have already looked at Easter, but what about Christmas? Anyone who studies the Bible knows Jesus was not born on December 25th. And besides this, the Bible does not state that we should celebrate His birth. But we are to celebrate the free gift He gave us - - - and that is the forgiveness of sin.

Some choose to celebrate ancient Israel's feast days. They celebrate the Passover, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. Some even celebrate the lesser feast days and the new moon. The feast of Passover was fulfilled by Jesus. He was the Passover Lamb. The Feast of Weeks was fulfilled by Christ Jesus when He came as the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. The only feast yet to be fulfilled is the Feast of Tabernacles. This will be celebrated when God's people flee into the wilderness and live in temporary shelters. But to celebrate the feast days is an abomination to our God.

The man with the inkhorn went through the city and marked all those who sighed and cried for what they saw.

"And to the others He said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity." Ezekiel 9:5

God spoke to the six men who had the slaughter weapons in their hands. They were told to follow the man who had the inkhorn who had set the mark upon all those who sighed and cried for all the abominations they witnessed. It should be plain to all that this is when God is going to pour out His wrath. These six men were not to show pity to anyone who did not have the mark.

"Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house. Ezekiel 9:6

This was a direct order from God. They were to slay utterly, the old, the young maids, the little children, and the women. The word utterly means "complete destruction." This may be shocking to many Christians who believe God is only a goody-goody God who only wants to show His love toward us. This is certainly one side of God's mercy, but He will completely destroy those who continually commit abominations to defame His good name. The apostle Paul knew this. In his letter to the church at Rome, he warned:

"Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in His goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off." Romans 11:22

The word severity means "harsh judgment upon sin." God is warning us here that if we do not continue in His goodness, then we will be cut off. The phrase cut off means "to cut down a tree." God stated to His ancient people Israel:

"If I whet My glittering sword, and Mine hand take hold of judgment; I will render vengeance to Mine enemies, and will reward them that hate Me." Deuteronomy 32:41

The same goes for the world, the government, and especially the church. Those who believe God has forsaken the earth, and that He is only a goody, goody God will find out - - - but it will be too late. God's glittering sword is His sword of judgment. When His hand takes hold of judgment there will be no turning back. He will render vengeance on all those who have shown their hatred for Him by the abominations they do in their secret chambers. God gave direction to those men who had the slaughter weapons in their hands:

". . . but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house." Ezekiel 9:6b

Those who have the mark of God in their foreheads will be spared. Those who love their God and live by His Word will be found innocent. And just as in ancient times, when the blood was placed on the two side posts and upper lentil of the door, that family was spared when the death angel passed through the land.

In the book of Revelation this mark is referred to by the phrase seal of God. Those who have the seal of God in their forehead will be spared at this time. As Peter stated, God's judgment will begin at the house of God, and with His people. God also showed Ezekiel this truth, stating He will begin with the ancient men in His sanctuary. These are the elders, the leaders in the church. Why would God judge the leaders? It is because they have failed to prepare the people for the coming Day of Judgment and what God expects of His people. Ezekiel continues:

"And He said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city." Ezekiel 9:7

The dead churches will be filled with those who, as Peter described, obey not the gospel of God, I Peter 4:17c. The men who had the slaughter weapons went through the city. Cities are where most of the corruption in the world takes place. Government officials abide in the cities. The cities are where the corrupt financial centers, the sports arenas, and the mega churches also are. Yes, God's judgment is going to begin in the cities. Ezekiel continues:

"And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord God! Wilt Thou destroy all the residue of Israel in Thy pouring out of Thy fury upon Jerusalem?" Ezekiel 9:8

God showed all this to Ezekiel in a vision. Ezekiel witnessed the full destruction of God's fury, and cried out to God. Was it God's intention to slay all the residue of Israel? The word residue means "to pervert and corrupt morally." God is going to bring His fury and wrath upon all those who are morally corrupt. This includes sodomites, lesbians, transvestites, and all those whom Paul explained to the church at Rome:

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet." Romans 1:26-27

Those who call themselves `gay' will not be so gay when God sets His hand to His glittering sword and pours out His judgment in all His fury. Sodomy is nothing new. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this sin. And God's fury did not stop with Sodom and Gomorrah. He also destroyed the five cities of the plain. God's fury is not going to be confined to the cities this time, but will encompass all those who are an abomination to Him.

"Then said He unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The Lord hath forsaken the earth, and the Lord seeth not." Ezekiel 9:9

Ezekiel gives us another reason for God's fury, stating the land is full of blood. Blood is life, and the shedding of man's blood is a heinous crime before God. Yet murder runs rampant in the cities. These murders are usually committed because of drugs, alcohol, and passion. How much longer will God hold back His hand of judgment on this violence which has filled the land?

Ezekiel also stated the cities were full of perverseness. The word perverseness means "perversion, perverted, and warped." The cities are full of perversion: perverted sex, perverted justice, perverted dealings. Truth and honesty have all but disappeared. Those who continue in their perverted thinking believe God has forsaken the earth, and that He does not see their corruption.

". . . as for Me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head." Ezekiel 9:10

Our merciful, loving God will come to the place where He will no longer look over the perverseness upon the earth. Those who are clothed in linen, which have the writer's inkhorn by their side, have warned the nation, the world, and the church over and over again of their sin, but the world and the church have failed to heed God's warnings. Those who have no fear of God, and who plan their despotic deeds in the secret chambers of their imagery will be part of those who are destroyed as Ezekiel saw in his vision. Paul warned the church at Corinth:

"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." II Corinthians 7:1

Those who will decide to partake of God's promises are those who have cleansed themselves of all the filthiness of the flesh and spirit. These will fear God because they have been taught the judgment of God.

On the Isle of Patmos, the angel of the Lord appeared to John, proclaiming with a loud voice:

". . . Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." Revelation 14:7

We need to heed the words of the angel of the Lord, and worship Him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the fountains of waters. Yes, judgment is on the horizon, and each of us must make the decision to serve God, or run with the world. Praise God.
