"And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the Kingdom shall be the LORD'S." Obadiah1:21
The word saviours means "deliverers." God is calling forth today His mighty army, His saviours, His deliverers on Mount Zion:
"And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and He shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and He shall deliver them." Isaiah 19:20
Just as it was in the time of Moses, God's people are being oppressed under hard taskmasters today. But God is about to send forth saviours (His deliverers) to set men free of all bondages.
Elisha is a glorious picture of God's charioteers of deliverance in the coming day of the Lord:
"And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee.
And they two went on. And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan. And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee.
And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so." II Kings 2:1-10
Elijah told Elisha what he asked for was a hard thing. It would be very difficult for Elisha to receive the double portion anointing. The same is true today. If we are to receive the double portion anointing, then we must never take our eyes off our goal - - - and that is to become like Christ Jesus our Lord.
"And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both sunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My Father, my Father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces." II Kings 2:11-12
When Elijah was taken up in the whirlwind into heaven, Elisha cried, "My Father, My Father, the chariot and horsemen of Israel!" The horse and chariot are signs of God's Spiriutal might and power. The horse and chariot also represent mobility and swiftness. Elisha was crying out to his Father for all the power and might his Father had to offer. Elisha knew he could no longer depend on his own power and might for the days that were ahead of him.
Praise the Lord, Elisha was diligent to keep his eyes on Elijah; and saw Elijah when he was taken up. So he knew he was granted his request. It is recorded that Elijah did seven miracles, and Elisha, with the double portion of Elijah's anointing, did fourteen miracles. The coming double portion anointing is going to enter into man's spirit with such power and might one cannot even imagine it.
"Elisha took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;" II Kings 2:13
As Elisha stood, awestruck by this tremendous event, still basking in the Spirit of the Living God, he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces. Elisha knew he had to shed the covering of the flesh. Elisha knew the old, fleshly, Adam nature can never stand in the presence of God. Elisha had come face to face with God and he stood naked, no longer depending on his fleshly covering or his fleshly achievements. Elisha had removed the garment of the flesh. He stood transparent before the Father. Elisha had prepared himself to receive the Double Portion of the Spirit that was on Elijah.
When Adam sinned he lost His Spiritual covering, and God clothed him in skins. God clothed Adam with the beast nature. When Elisha shed his fleshly garment, Elisha regained the Spiritual covering Adam lost. If we are to go all the way with God, we must shed our fleshly garment to regain the Spiritual covering that all mankind has lost because of sin.
God has His anointed voice in the wilderness today preparing those who will receive the Double Portion Ministry of Elisha. Today the Elijah ministry is searching the Father's field for those who are willing to sacrifice all to follow on to know the Lord. The Elijah ministry is ready to pass on its mantle to the Elisha ministry. Those who have never taken their eyes off the Elijah ministry are standing at the river of death, ready to overcome all the old fleshly nature. They are ready for the Elijah ministry to part the waters that they may cross over on dry ground. They are being prepared to receive their double portion anointing of the Spirit. This anointing will be poured out without measure.
"And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha." II Kings 6:17
In order for Elisha's servant to see the mountain full of God's army, he had to lift his head and open his eyes. When he did, he saw God's miracle of deliverance for His people. God's army will be made up of those who have separated themselves from all worldly ties. Paul wrote to Timothy:
"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier." II Timothy 2:3-4
This mighty Spiritual army of God was prophesied in the Old Testament. Joel wrote of this army.
"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the Garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? Joel 2:1-11
Joel describes the appearance of God's mighty end time army:
"The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array." Joel 2:4-5
The appearance of this army will be as horses and horsemen. They will be like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains. Joel informs us that this army will be raised up in a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. This will be a day when darkness covers all the earth, when sin has come to the full. But we know that where sin abounds, that God's grace will abound all the more. The grace to do His will, will be instilled in His army.
Joel reveals that this will be a great people and a strong people that the world has never seen the like. The world has never seen the power and authority that will be in this army who will accomplish God's purpose in the earth, Joel 2:2.
Who will head up this army? "And the Lord shall utter His voice before His army: for His camp is very great: for He is strong that executeth His Word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?" Joel 2:11
This army hears only the Father's voice. These soldiers will execute His Word. The word execute means "to accomplish" His Word, or "fulfill" His Word. We know that this generation will not pass away until all things be fulfilled, Matthew 24:34. This army will be raised up to fulfill the Word of God in the coming day of darkness, the great and terrible day of the Lord.
Joel says that this army shall run like mighty men, they will climb walls like men of war. They shall march every one on His way. They shall not break their rank. If they should fall upon their sword, they will not be wounded, Joel 2:7-8.
These are God's horsemen, His charioteers of salvation. They will neither turn to the right hand, nor the left. They will obey the Father's voice.
Joel declares that these are a strong people set in battle array, or they have on their battle armament. Paul explained our armament is not physical, but spiritual:
"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." Ephesians 6:14-17
Other prophets of old have foretold of the activities of this army, and who will serve in it. Isaiah declares:
"Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel." Isaiah 41:15-16
The chariots of salvation are those new sharp threshing instruments that God will use to thresh the mountains, the kingdoms of darkness.
Isaiah declares, God will make the hills as chaff to be blown away by the wind. He then goes on to say that His mighty army will fan them. The word fan means "to scatter, to cast away, and disperse". The whirlwind shall scatter them, or destroy the enemies' strength, and we will rejoice and glory in our Lord, the Holy One of Israel.
The battle is the Lord's. The victory is ours. God's army will do the spiritual warfare necessary to accomplish God's purpose in the earth. Jeremiah saw this time, also:
"Thou art my battle-axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;" Jeremiah 51:20
This mighty army is God's battle-axe and His weapons of war. He will use these hardened soldiers to break in pieces the nations and kingdoms of this world. There are some who are teaching that God is speaking this in the physical. But God is speaking in the spiritual. It is not by might, (physical strength), nor by power, (physical armament), but by My Spirit (the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God), sayeth the Lord of hosts, Zechariah 4:6.
God's army is going to made up of Spiritual warriors. These are His horsemen, His charioteers of salvation who are going to perform a mighty deliverance in the coming day of God's wrath. Zechariah also speaks of this mighty army:
"Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the Lord of Hosts hath visited His flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as His goodly horse in the battle. Out of Him came forth the corner, out of Him the nail, out of Him the battle bow, out of Him every oppressor together. And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded." Zechariah 10:3-5
The word horse should have been translated "horsemen", and the word goodly means "glorious and honorable." God is calling His goodly, glorious and honorable horsemen today to the battle. They shall be mighty which tread down the enemies in the mud of the streets in the battle, because the Lord is with them. God is forming this army now. He is calling His people, just as He did Elisha, unto Himself, separating them from the things of the earth and putting His glory in their vision.
Again we see Joel's army in the coming day of God's wrath:
"A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them." Joel 2:3
Joel said that before God's army the land is as the Garden of Eden. Their vision is not for this time. It is for the time that lies directly ahead - - - the full day, the 1000 year day, the seventh day from creation and the third day since Jesus left the earth - - - the day Jesus spoke of when He would be glorified, Luke 13:32. [see "The Seventh Day" by George Kirkpatrick]
God is going to be glorified in His saints, His army in the earth, that will do His spiritual warfare. They will reclaim that which was lost in the Garden of Eden. They will, again, restore His headship over all creation. They will bind and cast out all of satan's kingdom into the bottomless pit. And they will put all enemies under His footstool. From these, God will make up His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The word "charioteer or horsemen" comes from the Hebrew word Rechab. God is calling to His Rechabites, His charioteers, His new sharp threshing instruments, His goodly horsemen, and His battle bows to enlist in His army today.
The qualifications are that we separate ourselves from anything that we are holding onto in this earth, and obey only the Lord's voice. We must be willing to be trained in the Word and the ways of God. Our lives must be lived by the LOGOS and RHEMA Word of God. Then the process of dying to self will have begun. As Paul referred to Epaphroditus, his companion in labor, his brother and fellowsoldier; we will recognize our fellowsoldiers by their walk, Philippians 2:25. These faithful charioteers will allow God to order their steps, Psalms 37:23.
When we come to this place in God, we will witness the coming of the fullness of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit without measure in our lives; as Jesus, our example, who received the Early and Latter Rain, the Double Portion anointing. [see "Anointed For The Greater Works Ministry" by George Kirkpatrick]
Do you hear the horses and the chariots of salvation?
"Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation? Habakkuk 3:8
Yes, God is angry today for the gross darkness He sees in the hearts of men. The rivers of Babylon have all but dried up, and the sea of humanity has become a stink in God's nostrils. [see "The Rivers of Babylon Are Drying Up" by George Kirkpatrick]
Will you become an Elisha, leaving all to see the vision for the coming Day of Salvation? Hear Isaiah's cry:
"And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods He hath broken unto the ground." Isaiah 21:9
All those who dwell in the confusion of Babylon, hear God's warning. God has given us a few grains of sand in the hour glass of time to repent of our thoughts and our actions. Do not become part of God's judgment upon this nation, the apostate church, and the world. We can escape this horrible judgment if we are totally dependant upon God, and turn away from depending on the government for our protection. [see "Mystery Babylon Revealed" by George Kirkpatrick]
Speaking of Babylon, Jesus warns us, and John records His words:
"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her." Revelation 18:4 & 8
As Elisha, it is time to separate ourselves from everything of the world that is hindering our becoming God's mighty army, His Charioteers of Salvation.
Come out of her My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins.
Christ Jesus, the Commander in Chief is calling forth His chariots of salvation, His deliverers on Mount Zion:
"Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle. Harness the horses; and get up, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines.
Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.
Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge Him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates." Jeremiah 46:3-10
Charioteers of Salvation. Hear My Word, and prepare for battle!
"Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms; And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider; With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid; I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers." Jeremiah 51:20-23
I hear the sounds of the chariots and the horses
They're sounding forth the sound of His coming
Prepare your hearts to receive the rain .
It's the rain of His love;
It's the rain of His spirit
Oh, hear the sound of My coming
The sound of My coming is near!
