Vital Words to the Body of Christ
Freely We Have Received, Freely We Give
"Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body." I Corinthians 6:13
The word meat is used in various ways in the Bible, but the basic use of the word meat is food. When Paul wrote, "meats for the belly and the belly for meats", most only have a carnal, physical understanding of the word meat, not knowing that it is to be spiritually applied in their lives.
In Philippians, Paul speaks of those who are enemies of the cross of Christ:
"For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ. Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things." Philippians 3:18-19
Who are the enemies of Christ? Paul relates it is those whose god is their bellies and mind earthly things. God has a plan and purpose for every one of His creation, man; and our food must nourish the whole man: spirit, soul and body. In Proverbs, Solomon writes:
"When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:" Proverbs 23:1
"Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat." Proverbs 23:3
The rulers Solomon speaks of are the leaders who desire to have rule over our lives, whether government, an employer, our own appetites, or the religious system. Solomon warns us not to desire their dainties.
The word dainty means "pleasing to the eye and the palate"; something that looks and tastes good, but does not nourish the body. Solomon states, "these are deceitful meats." The word deceitful means "false, fraud, hallow, delusive." It also means "to mislead, to cheat, to delude." These deceitful dainties look and taste good, but they have no food value, physical or spiritual.
Let us first consider the physical aspect of the food we partake of. Much of the food God's people eat and sit before their children is deceitful meat. One might say, "I am not under the old law where I must partake of certain foods." This is true, we are not under the Mosaic Law of clean and unclean foods. Paul warned us in his letter to Timothy of those who would attempt to bring us under bondage to only eat certain foods.
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:" I Timothy 4:1, 3 & 4
We are to receive all that God has created with thanksgiving. If we bless our food then all is clean unto us. Paul wrote, "Every creation of God is good and nothing to be refused." Herein lies the secret of good eating. We are to partake of that which God has created, not that which has been fabricated, altered, or refined by man to please the palate in a quick, efficient method to please man's time schedule and accommodate his way of life. Although many stand on the scripture in Matthew 6 to justify their ungodly eating habits, quoting the words of Jesus,
"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?" Matthew 6:25
These declare, "We can eat anything we want, as long as we give thanks for it", and "It is alright in the sight of God and he will bless it." The word thought does not mean we are not to think about what we eat. The word thought means "be not anxious or troubled" about your life, what you are going to eat or drink. Don't be troubled about your body and your clothing. All these are in the hands of the Father. Proper diet and eating habits should be established in your life to nourish and take care of the good health God has given us; and you need not be anxious or troubled about them if we properly nourish the body to keep it healthy. Others will use the scripture,
"Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?" Mark 7:19
Therefore, many conclude that anything they eat is OK, because Jesus stated it does not go into the heart, but into the belly and out the draught; therefore, all meat (food) is purged (cleansed). We must check to see in what context Jesus was speaking. He was not referring to bad dietary practices. He was referring to the "traditions of men"; particularly the "ceremonial washing of hands before eating." The Pharisees taught that if the religious ceremony of washing of hands was not kept, a man would be unclean before God. Jesus used this to, again, relate that it was not the food that made a man clean or unclean before God, but it was the condition of the heart. Jesus told the Pharisees:
"Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. Making the Word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye." Mark 7:9 & 13
Jesus was not saying that the body would purge junk food and make it nutritious in the body. He was enlightening us to the fact that we are not to follow the traditions of men and reject the commandments of God. Many will also quote,
"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" I Corinthians 6:19
Yet today, many use their body, God's temple, as a garbage dump, trying to nourish their bodies with food which has no food value. These, as Solomon states, are deceitful meats which deceive an individual into believing that their body is being nourished when they are starving it of needed nutrients. God intended the body to be nourished by that which He created, in the way He created it, so that man could remain healthy.
Quick, fast, over-processed foods are "deceitful meats." These are "dainties" that please the eye and the palate, but starve the body of nourishment. Highly seasoned, highly spiced, full of salt and sugar foods which have been stripped of all their God-given nutritional value are not the foods God originally created for His creation man to partake of.
There came a time in Israel's history, when because of their sin before God, they were taken into captivity by the Babylonians. The prophet Daniel, along with Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were taken to Babylon to serve in the courts of Nebuchadnezzar. These young men were put under the care of Melzar the prince of the eunuchs. As the Word records, the young men were:
"Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans." Daniel 1:4
These were the young men who were filled with all wisdom. They were being trained to stand in the King's palace. God is raising up a people today who will have the ability to stand before their King, Christ Jesus.
"And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king." Daniel 1:5
These young men were given the best the king had to offer. They were to have the king's meat and the king's wine. Many today would say, "It doesn't get any better than this!"
Daniel and the young men with him knew the Holy Scriptures. They had been taught God's ways from their birth. They were children of wisdom. They remembered Solomon's advice that states:
"When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee, and put a knife to thy throat if thou art a man given to appetite." Proverbs 23:2
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself." Daniel 1:8
These young men found favor with the prince of the eunuchs. Melzar feared that, if these young men did not eat the king's food and drink the king's wine, they would become weak and pale, which would cause the king to take the eunuch's life for irresponsibility in his office. If these young men stood before the king with any blemish or sign of malnourishment, the eunuch would be killed. But Daniel spoke wisely to his overseer. Knowing the value of good food as God had designed it, Daniel reassured Melzar, the prince of the Eunuchs:
"Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink." Daniel 1:12
Pulse is a simple vegetable diet. All Daniel requested was simple vegetables and water, asking Melzar to prove them on this diet for ten days.
"And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat." Daniel 1:15
In ten short days there was a noticeable difference in the countenance of Daniel and the three young men when compared with those who ate the deceitful meat of the king.
"Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse." Daniel 1:16
Melzar was convinced that Daniel's simple diet promoted the health of those young men who refused the king's deceitful meat. Yet with all the evidence in God's Word, many still desire deceitful meats. Deceitful meats are those which have been altered by refinement, food coloring, spices, sugars, etc. to create dainty foods that appeal to the eye and the palate.
The question may arise, "What are some of these deceitful meats man has altered and refined?" We must begin with the "five whites."
White Bread White Sugar White Pastas White Flour White Rice
These products have been stripped of any and all food value. It has been said by doctors that our children are starving to death on full stomachs. These "five whites" have become main staples in man's diets today.
Next comes the "instants." Instant anything has no food value: instant potatoes, instant breakfast cereals, instant rice; all have been stripped of their nutritional value and are full of starch and unusable carbohydrates.
Next are the fast foods. These are greasy, highly seasoned, deceitful meats. It has been said that fast foods are the quickest way to the doctor's office.
Then come the pastries with their overly sweet fillings and sugar coatings. Many eat what is called a "continental breakfast" which consists of coffee and sweet rolls. The body cannot function on sugar, caffeine and acid. Yet God's people insist on having their cups of coffee as the day progresses. This high intake of caffeine and acid greatly irritates the stomach lining, causing many stomach problems. This is compounded by the other deceitful meats that are partaken of throughout the balance of the day.
God has warned his people not to partake of these deceitful meats. God's desire is that we refuse to eat these "dainties" and begin to partake of those foods which He has created for man to eat with thanksgiving.
Many of God's people are overweight. The vast majority of our populace suffer from hypertension, heart trouble, high blood pressure, diabetes, hypoglycemia, and other diet-related diseases. Many are forced to take all kinds of medicine for all kinds of illnesses, when, if we eat properly, we are given the promise:
"And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee." Deuteronomy 7:15
Many of God's people in our day have forsaken God's ways and have gone their own way, justifying what they are doing by saying everyone is doing it. Solomon, in all His wisdom, stated:
"Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths." Proverbs 4:10-11
God's people today truly need wisdom as they are inundated with all the advertisements of man's deceitful meats. We need to seek our God daily on proper nutrition. Common sense tells us that good food is cheaper than doctor bills, hospital stays and drug store prescriptions.
We need to repent of our eating habits and turn to the living God for His nutrition plan for our lives. When we do this He promises that He will put none of the diseases of Egypt (the world) upon us. God is faithful. But we must come into obedience to His Word and His will, and not desire the deceitful meats of the world with their eyeappealing and taste appealing death. Solomon writes:
"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 14:12
Many of God's people today choose to justify their use of tobacco and alcohol. Many will justify their use of tobacco by saying, "I don't smoke cigarettes. I smoke a pipe, or use snuff." All forms of tobacco use causes cancer in one form or another. Tobacco use is just another form of suicide, destroying the natural healing processes in the body.
Alcohol consumption is also one of the world's deceitful meats. Many will make excuses, "I only drink at meal time. It's part of my job. I only want to be social. I only drink on weekends at home. I can handle it." Alcohol destroys the brain tissue and the liver, which removes the poisons from the body. All these justifications do not mend the destroying effects on the body. King Lemuel's mother wrote,
"It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink." Proverbs 23:2
Man has chosen his own way and has forsaken the way of righteousness which God has set before us. If our belly is our way of life, then it has become our God. We cannot expect the blessing of
God on what we do or what we eat. We may ask God to bless it, but He will not bless deceitful meat. Solomon also wrote,
"Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:" Proverbs 23:6
All that we do must be done before the Lord. We might ask ourselves, "Would we serve the king of the whole earth what we are eating and feeding our children?" Or, if we knew He was coming for a meal, would we change the menu? Deceitful, dainty meats are not for kings.
"And hast made us to our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." Revelation 5:10
God has made us kings and priests unto Him. We need to nourish His temple with the meats that He has prepared to nourish His temple.
SPIRITUALLY DECEITFUL DAINTIES
As physical deceitful meat is devastating to the physical body, so is deceitful, spiritual meat to the spiritual body. Deceitful meats are those things that do not produce life in the body. Many false teachings have come forth, all proclaiming to be teaching the Kingdom message. But what is being taught is deceitful meat because it has not produced life in the body. This should be no surprise. Jesus spoke to the disciples of the coming of the end of the age. He warned that,
"Many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." Matthew 24:5
The name Christ means "the anointing" or "the anointed one." Many are coming in Jesus' name, proclaiming to have the anointing, but they have a pseudo-message that is deceitful meat to the body of Christ. Jesus went on to proclaim:
"Many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." Matthew 24:11
We should not be surprised that deceitful meat is being fed to God's people. In his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul spoke of those who would not receive the love of the truth, II Thessalonians 2:10.
"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:" II Thessalonians 2:11
God looks upon the heart. When it becomes apparent that a man does not have a love for the truth, then God will send in strong delusion, deceitful meat, that they should believe a lie. Today there is much deceitful meat being fed to God's flock. One of the most devastating of these is the "New Age Movement." This is so dangerous because it is so close to the truth, sounds good and tickles the ears, and if it were possible would fool the very elect. Many are as "silly women" sitting in the religious seats of comfort, convenience and no commitment, desiring this watered-down Word of God. They demand that God accept them as they are.
The New Age philosophy idealists proclaim, "The only sin is that which you believe is sin." This philosophy also declares, "Man is the center of all existence, therefore everything evolves around them." They become their own god. These idealists go even as far as to teach that man will get better and better, until man makes all things right, and we will all live happily ever after in their man-centered Utopia. This is totally against God's Spirit-inspired Word. In his letter to Timothy, Paul related,
"But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived." II Timothy 3:13
These New Age followers are being deceived, choosing to believe a lie, because they have no love of the truth of God that demands change.
Another deceitful meat which is being fed to the body of Christ is "Ultimate or Universal Reconciliation." This teaching is New Age, Humanism and Reincarnation all rolled into one mis-leading package. These teach that all who have ever lived will be saved and this includes satan himself. This deceitful meat has crept into many pulpits, and the body is being taught to believe a lie, not having a love for the truth. These deceivers teach there is no judgment, that God's people will take over the governments that now exist and make all things right. These, too, believe they will live in their man-made Utopia. This was the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Jesus revealed to John on the Isle of Patmos,
"But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate." Revelation 2:6
God hates this teaching. It nullifies everything that Jesus came to do, so that God could again restore the Kingdom unto His creation, man. This deceitful meat, too, is going forth as Kingdom teaching, robbing God's spiritual body of its nourishment.
Another so-called Kingdom teaching being proclaimed far and wide is that we have it all right now. "I am perfect in my present condition in the eyes of God." John wrote,
"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see Him as He is.." I John 3:2
If it does not yet appear what we shall be, how then can we see God's perfection in a people now? Paul wrote,
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." I Corinthians 13:12
If, as Paul declared, we are now seeing through a glass darkly, how do we see clearly that we have come into God's perfection? This teaching, as the others, does not demand change in the lives of God's people. It does not, as Paul stated, require us to "die daily", I Corinthians 5:31. There is no dying to self, no overcoming the flesh, or being renewed in the inner man in any of these teachings. These teachings tickle the ears of "silly women", (the luke-warm church). These deceiving meats mislead many.
Other deceitful meats that have been fed to the body of Christ are, "Once saved, always saved." These teach that "once we accept Jesus, no matter what we do, we can never lose our salvation."
The whole idea of us accepting Jesus is unscriptural. John recorded Jesus' Words:
"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:44
All those who have come to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ were drawn by the unction of the Holy Spirit. Again, John records Jesus' Words,
"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you." John 15:16
"If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." John 15:19
We did not accept Jesus, we were chosen in God. When did this choosing take place? Paul informed us in his letter to the Ephesians,
"According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:" Ephesians 1:4
When we have diligently searched the scriptures and have come into a true relationship with the Father, instead of just having a religious experience, we come to the understanding that our salvation was not a physical act of accepting Jesus, but that we were ordained from the beginning to come into the knowledge and the love of the truth.
Those who partake of the deceitful meat of "Once saved, always saved" want to be assured that they cannot lose their initial, physical act of accepting Jesus, instead of going on into perfection. Our initial salvation is only the first step. We need to go on into perfection (completeness and maturity). We need to diligently search and seek, as Paul, to know the Lord and the power of His resurrection, entering into the fellowship of His suffering, and being made conformable unto His death, Philippians 3:10.
Those who are teaching this deceitful meat have totally ignored the vital truth that God has inspired in His Word and that He has protected down through the ages. Peter, who was given the keys to the kingdom, states,
"For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it hath happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire." II Peter 2:21-22
Peter was addressing those who knew the way of righteousness and had turned from it. He equated this to the dog returning to his vomit or the sow that was washed, to her wallow. Peter was not teaching "Once saved, always saved." He was speaking of those who have been washed (received forgiveness of sin) and knew the way of righteousness (had been trained in the ways of God) returning to the old, filthy ways of the world. Paul's record of Demas settles forever the issue of "Once saved, always saved." Paul spoke of Demas in his letter to the Colossians:
"Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you." Colossians 4:14
Also in his letter to Philemon:
"Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers." Philemon 1:24
Demas was a fellowlabourer of Paul's, one of Paul's right-hand men. If this man had not come to the knowledge of the truth and was walking in the way of righteousness, he would not have been a fellowlabourer of Paul's. But in Paul's last letter we get this report on Demas:
"For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and hath departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia." II Timothy 4:10
Demas forsook Paul. Why? He loved this present world more than he loved God. He returned to the vomit of the old life and, again, began to wallow in the ways of the world.
The religious systems today want no part of a changed, separated life. Instead they are determined to believe a lie, and attempt to be nourished spiritually with deceitful meat that does not produce life in the hearer.
These teachings do not lead to life. Instead they lull God's people into a deeper sleep. When the bridegroom comes these virgins will be caught totally unprepared to enter into the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, Matthew 25.
Peter spoke of our day:
"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction." II Peter 2:1
Damnable heresies are deceitful meats that are being forcefed to the body of Christ as the Word of God. All are looking for their hope in God, but as God spoke, our hope is not in our going, our hope is not in His coming, our hope is in our becoming!
The question may be asked, "Becoming what?" We need to become the Word. We need to become the example that Jesus left. We need to, again, come into the image and likeness of God the Father. Paul wrote,
"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Colossians 1:27
Our hope is Christ in us. Paul wrote to the Galatians,
"My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you." Galatians 4:19
Our hope is Christ being formed in us, growing up into the head, becoming what God created us to be. There is no hope in deceitful meats.
In the early days of the church, Luke recorded Paul's words,
"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." Acts 20:29-30
Men are still speaking perverse things, drawing the flock of God after them, making disciples unto themselves, using deceitful meat that will never nourish nor produce life in the body of Christ.
Another deceitful meat that is being taught to God's people is the "Prosperity Message." This teaching is also called "The Faith Teaching." The faith or prosperity teachers teach that anything we ask of God, He will give us. This includes cars, houses, money in the mail box, better jobs, winning the lotto, or what other worldly thing we desire.
Big ministries have been built on the false premise that our relationship with God is based on our giving. They proclaim that if we support them, God will grant us any desire of our heart (soul); or, God will give us any soulish desire that the heart can imagine. These purveyors of deceitful meat use the parable of the sower as their gimmick to fleece the flock with a promise of an hundred fold, sixty fold or thirty fold return. The return is based on how much you give. If you give enough, they promise a hundred fold return. No one ever promises a thirty fold return.
Anyone doing a short study of Jesus' parable of the sower would realize it has nothing at all to do with our giving. It has to do with bearing spiritual fruit in our lives. Matthew records,
"But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." Matthew 13:23
The prosperity teachers teach God's people to desire the things God is trying to get out of our lives. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, the first part of that prayer began:
"And He said to them, When ye pray, say, Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth." Luke 11:2
Our prayers are to be in His will. Paul wrote in Colossians:
"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding." Colossians 1:9
Paul prayed for the people to be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. The "Name it and Claim It" teachers completely overlook the fact that God has taken His people out of the world, and now He is trying to get the world out of His people. The faith and prosperity teachers are teaching people that it is OK to exercise their worldly lust as long as they give God the glory. In Paul's letter to Titus, he proclaimed:
"Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;" Titus 2:12
Ungodliness and worldly lust are one and the same. We cannot live soberly (exercising self-restraint), righteously and Godly in this present world as long as we desire worldly lusts.
God has a prosperity message for His people. John, the beloved, wrote this message in his third epistle:
"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." III John 1:2
God's prosperity plan has to do with our having a prosperous journey through this life, not in how much we can accum-ulate while we are here. God's desire is that we be in health, not only our phys-ical health, but our spiritual health. God desires our spiritual relationship in Him to be prosperous.
Asaph, the Psalmist, wrote:
"And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High? Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches." Psalm 73:11 - 12
How does God know who are the ungodly? The ungodly are those who prosper in the world. They are those who increase in riches. Those who become rich in worldly things become seas, everything flows in, but nothing flows out. These become stagnant and rancid. The wealth of the world has become their god.
God's desire is that we become rivers, so that which flows in flows right back out. A river always washes itself clean. God's prosperity plan is not how rich you are in worldly mammon, but how rich you are in the Spiritual riches of God. Righteousness and true holiness are the measure of true wealth in the sight of God.
Our Spiritual health cannot be enhanced with deceitful meat. God not only makes us responsible for our own physical health, we are also responsible for our children's physical and spiritual health. In this age, our children have been inundated with deceitful meat. This deceitful meat is in the music that peer pressure demands they listen to. This deceitful, satanic meat is called "Rock, Punk Rock, Rap or Acid Rock." The message of this music is drugs, alcohol, sex, rebellion, revolution and suicide.
We ask what has happened to the last two generations of children. Why are they rebellious? Why are drug and alcohol use out of control? Teenage sex activity is at an all time high. Suicide among our young has never been higher. This began in the sixties when a permissive generation of parents allowed this deceitful meat to be part of the children's lives. The Bible states that we reap what we sow. This deceitful meat has brought shame to many parents. As Solomon declared in Proverbs:
"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame." Proverbs 29:15
Those who have abandoned the rod and reproof and allowed the child to go, do and become what he pleases has truly felt the shame of children who are burntout on drugs. Many parents have had to deal with teenage pregnancies, the abortion issue, and children who have taken the ultimate step to please their satanic god, suicide.
This shame is real in millions of parents' lives because parents have allowed this deceitful meat to enter into their children's lives. Solomon advised every parent,
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
We are admonished to train up our children, not let them grow up on their own, doing their own things, as the world advises them. Our children should be trained up in God's ways. Jesus said, "I am the way." Our children must be trained up in the ways of righteousness if we are to become that generation that the Psalmist wrote of:
"This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord." Psalm 102:18
If our children are not trained up in a Godly manner, they will not be part of that generation that will praise the Lord. They will depart, as is so evident in many Christian homes, because they have allowed their children to be fed deceitful meat that brings forth death, and does not produce the life of Christ in the child.
Another devastating, deceitful meat that is part of the religious systems today is the teaching of the "Rapture." This teaching came into the church system in the 1830's. It teaches that before any judgment comes from God upon the earth, that God's saints will be miraculously taken off the earth, in what is termed a "Rapture." Not one scripture mentions this or even minutely alludes to any such happening. [See "Rapture False Hope" by G. Kirkpatrick] This teaching has been accepted because it does not demand change in people's lives.
The Spirit of Christ revealed unto Isaiah the prophet the false teaching of the "Rapture" as a warning to God's people in this last hour of time.
"Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we in agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not reach us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:" Isaiah 28:15
The church system has made a covenant with death. All they talk about is dying. All the Bible speaks of is living. These are in agreement with hell (the grave). They have no hope in God, other than dying or being taken off the earth before any trouble comes.
The Bible speaks much about overcoming. All the church system talks about is being overcome. If they are not overcome by satan, then they are overcome by death. Death is the enemy of man. Man needs to overcome death by living. God is looking for overcomers, not for those who are teaching that when the overflowing scourge (wrath of God) comes, it will not affect them, or will not touch them because they have been miraculously swept off the earth.
Isaiah declared, "You have made lies your refuge and have hid yourselves under lies." Isaiah 28:15 Falsehoods have become the hope of God's people. These are deceitful meats that have been made more palatable by the glib tongues of deceivers. Isaiah went on to declare:
"Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place." Isaiah 28:17
God will lay judgment to the line and our righteousness to the plummet. Our lives must line up with the Word of God. That which does not line up with the Word is refuse and must be cast away. Hail (divine judgment) will sweep away the refuge of lies. The waters (the cleansing water of the Word) will overflow the hiding places of falsehoods in the lives of God's people. Isaiah went on to warn God's people:
"And your covenant with death shall be broken, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it." Isaiah 28:18
Those who have put their trust in the deceitful meat of the Rapture will be trodden down by the overflowing scourge of God's divine judgment. We need to be that people whom God revealed unto John on the Isle of Patmos when he addressed them as "overcomers." God made seven promises to the "overcomer":
"To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." Revelation 2:7
"He that overcometh shall not be hurt by the second death." Revelation 2:11
"To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth except he that receiveth it." Revelation 2:17
"He that overcometh, and keepeth my works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations:" Revelation 2:26
"And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father." Revelation 2:27
"And I will give him the morning star." Revelation 2:28
"He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels." Revelation 3:5
"Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name." Revelation 3:12
"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me on my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father on his throne." Revelation 3:21
These are the promises made to the overcomers. The only promise made to those who have made lies their refuge and have hidden themselves under falsehood is that when God's overflowing scourge passes through, they will be trodden down by it.
We need to remove this deceitful meat from our thinking and prepare our lives for what God has planned for our lives. We need to stop partaking of the deceitful meats that have been prepared as "dainties" so pleasing to the eye and easy to be swallowed.
The writer of Hebrews wrote:
"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need of one to teach you again which are the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." Hebrews 5:12
Many of God's people have sat in the church system for years which should have become teachers of the Word of Life. Instead, they do not know the first principles or the oracles (basic Christian doctrine) of God. These have been taught the precepts and doctrines of men that their denominational systems were founded on. These can only be given milk. As Peter wrote:
"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby:" I Peter 2:2
It is all right to desire milk as long as you are babies. We are only to desire milk for a season, and that is so we may grow in the Word of Righteousness. The writer of Hebrews declares:
"For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe." Hebrews 5:13
Those who are still on milk are unskilled in the Word. Paul admonished us in his second letter to Timothy, II Timothy 2:15. We are to study God's Word to show that we are useful to Him in the word of righteousness.
"Strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." Hebrews 5:14
God's desire for His people is that they partake of strong meat, so that by the use of the Word they can exercise their senses (spiritual senses) to discern good and evil. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is still growing in the garden of God which is the center of our lives. We need to learn to choose the good and refuse the evil, Isaiah 7:15.
God has set his table in the wilderness with all the good things that he desires us to eat. Man has set his table in the midst of the people with all his deceitful meats. We can choose to partake of God's table and be Spiritually nourished with all the goodness of God, or we can partake of man's deceitful meat and be spiritually anemic.
We need to begin today to choose carefully the physical and spiritual meat that we partake of if we are to be part of that overcoming group who will rule and reign with Christ. We need to begin today to prepare to stand in the presence of the King.
