As we grow in the knowledge of the Word, we view the Bible in a different light. It no longer is just an ancient document, filled with ancient events. It becomes a living, breathing expose of modern man and God's righteous judgment on those who violate His Word, His will, and His way. The Bible is God's way of revealing Himself to His creation man. God has chosen the written word as His means of informing man of His desires, so He can restore man to his created condition. God's desire is to bless His creation again so we can walk in His presence, and communicate with Him on a one on one basis. In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul proclaimed:
"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:" Ephesians 1:17
It is God's desire to give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Himself. Man cannot obtain this knowledge without the Spirit of truth being active in his life. We are to pray to the Spirit for wisdom and revelation. James imparted to us:
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that tiveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5
If we lack wisdom in the things of God, we need to seek Him for His wisdom. King Solomon understood this. He revealed:
"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and with all thy getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:7
With wisdom and revelation, we need understanding, Wisdom without understanding and revelation is dangerous. The same is true of revelation: without understanding and wisdom, revelation is dangerous. Many have been wounded by those who only have wisdom, when their revelation and understanding are void. Wisdom, without revelation and understanding, wounds the weak. The same is true of those who have a little revelation, but use no wisdom or understanding when they share their revelation. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul revealed:
"But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." Galatians 1:11-12
Paul did not preach after the wisdom of men. What Paul preached and wrote was of the revelation he received by the Spirit. Paul's words were proclaimed by the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. Paul also spoke and wrote with understanding. Unfortunately, the pulpits are filled today with those who have only obtained the knowledge and wisdom of men. Their revelation is limited, and they can only bring a psychological message to tickle the ears of the unlearned and uncommitted. It is God's desire we seek Him, for His wisdom and revelation, and as King Solomon wrote, "... with all thy getting get understanding.."
