Who Shall Ascend to the Hill of the Lord
We live in a world who has amassed much knowledge, but very little wisdom. We can put a man on the moon, but we cannot cure the common cold. We can create weapons of mass destruction, but cannot keep a peace treaty. We can build the finest school facilities, yet cannot control violence in the students.
We should ask what is wrong. Where have we failed as a country, as a people, and most of all how have we failed as parents. The world calls this nation a Christian nation, yet our government officials are caught in sex scandals, and alcohol abuse. Drug parties are openly admitted. Homosexuals and lesbians are OK. This continues to happen, while the church stands idly by while our children are hoodwinked by the things of the world. We take, or allow the children God has given us, to attend rock concerts, and what is called contemporary Christian concerts which is nothing more than rock music which mentions Jesus' name once in a while. The Psalmist David asked the question:
"Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy place?" Psalm 24:3
This is, or should be, everyone's desire. Even the heathen want to go to heaven when they die. David informs us who will ascend to the hill of the Lord:
"He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully." Psalm 24:4
How can we expect, or our children expect, to ascend to the hill of the Lord or stand in His holy place when our hearts (minds) are not pure. How can our minds be pure when it is defiled with rock music, Christian contemporary rock, and other perversions of the world. We must guard our eyes at all times.
If the eyes are the window of the soul, then the ears are the port holes of the soul.
When we guard our eyes and ears, our hands will be clean, and our hearts will remain pure.
