Multitudes of warnings have been given to this generation of God's people. Some have heeded. Most have not. What we hear over and over is God is going to take care of us. I wonder where we would be today if Noah had had this attitude when God warned him of the coming flood? Most do not want to deal with the warnings because it interrupts their easy way of life. The apostle James declared:
"Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." James 4:8
If ever in the history of mankind we need to draw nigh unto God, it is today. James warns us to ". . .cleanse your hands ye sinners. . ." James is not speaking to the world. He is speaking to God's people who have not dealt with the old sin nature. He also warns, ". . . purify your hearts, ye double-minded. . ." James had already warned, ". . . a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. . ." James 1:8.
God is calling to His holy remnant to draw close unto Him. Why? So they can hear His still, small voice in the midst of the noise of this chaotic world we live in. God directs us to be still and know He is God. The question arises, "How can we be still?" We must take time and work at being still. In our stillness, God will speak to us so we can know His plan and purpose for our lives. David the Psalmist asks:
"Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up His soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully." Psalm 24:3-4
Our hands represent our service toward God. If we do not serve God will clean hands and a pure heart, our service towards God is vain. We need to heed God's warnings and draw nigh unto our God in this last hour of time. Praise the Lord!
