ISSUE SIXTEEN
Summer is drawing to an end, and the time of birds nesting and raising their
young is about over. In early spring the birds spend much time building their
nests. Then they spend much time sitting on their eggs and keeping them warm
until they hatch. And when they hatch, the parent birds spend much time gathering
food and feeding their young, always making sure the baby birds needs are
met before they meet their own needs. They sacrifice all their time and energy
on taking care of their young.
As the young birds grow, there's always a few that jump out of the nest before
they can fly. They become very vulnerable to the enemy. They can't fly away,
and they have not learned yet what they must flee away from. The parent birds
can only watch, and try to protect them. But it often ends in death for the
young bird.
"As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from
his place." *** Proverbs 27:8
Today we have many young adults leaving their protected place at home and
church. And just like the young birds, they become very easy prey to the
enemy. The parents have spent much time raising their children, and making
sure their needs have been met. But the young adults think they can jump
the nest and be alright. They have not yet learned how to fly, and to provide
for themselves. Their way of life becomes very hard.
When we wander from our place, the presence of God. WE become as the young
birds to the prey. God has a place for you, where He will protect you, feed
you, and take care of you. One of the meanings for the word wander is "to
wave to and fro, and to flap up and down."
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men
liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask
in faith, nothing wavering. For he that waverth is like a wave of the sea
driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall
receive anything of the Lord. A double-minded man is unstable in all his
ways." James 1:5-8
Our minds need to be set on the wisdom of God. If you lack wisdom, ask God
in faith, and He will give you wisdom. With the wisdom of God, we will always
be in a right place with God. A double minded man is always unstable in his
ways. Do we follow the wisdom of God or our own wisdom or the wisdom of men?
Is your path straight and narrow, or are you wandering to and fro? Are you
like a wave in the sea, being tossed up and down? Are your emotions always
up and down with God? If you feel out of place, you need to seek the wisdom
of God, and come back to Him, and His protected place for you.
"Thou art my hiding place; Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt
compass me about with songs of deliverance." Psalm 32:7
