Why is there so much confusion, misunderstanding, and downright lack of knowledge today in the body of Christ? As we look around at the church system, the answer becomes obvious. There are four basic reasons:

1      There is much confusion and misunderstanding because God's people have no Spiritual understanding of His Word. They attempt to understand His
Word by study or education, without any Spiritual anointing of the Word.

2      They do not have a thorough understanding of the Old Testament, and especially the book of Genesis.

3      The third reason for so much confusion and misunderstanding in the body of Christ today is bad teaching. God's people are taught the same error that
has been taught in the denominational seminaries down through the generations.

4      The fourth reason this confusion and misunderstanding exists is because they do not put precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little
in their study of God's Word as the prophet Isaiah showed us in Isaiah 28:10.

One of the portions of God's word where there has been much confusion and misunderstanding is the mark God set upon Cain. As we begin to look at the Mark of Cain, we must understand why Cain received this mark. It was because he was guilty of the first murder - - - his brother Abel. We are informed that at the birth of Cain and Abel:

"And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground." Genesis 4:1-2

In the process of time both brothers found it necessary to make an offering unto the Lord. The Genesis account tells us Abel offered the best of his flock and Cain offered the best of his crops.

". . . and the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:" Genesis 4:4b

"But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell." Genesis 4:5

Cain was very wroth (furious), burning with anger. But who was Cain angry with? It was not with Abel. Abel did not reject Cain's offering. Cain was angry with God.

We must ask, "Why did Cain and Abel make sacrifices to the Lord?" Sacrifices were made to atone for their sins. Then we need to ask, "Why was Cain's offering not pleasing to God?" Cain offered the best of his crops. After all he was a farmer, and he offered what he had produced with his hands. Paul gives us insight as to why Cain's offering was not pleasing to the Lord:

"And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." Hebrews 9:22

In Cain's offering there was no shed blood. Therefore Cain's offering was not acceptable, and he remained in his sin. Yet many today are still trying to please God with the works of their own hands. They believe their fancy clothes, new cars, and grand homes are pleasing to God, but the only thing that is pleasing to God is a humble heart and a contrite spirit. Abel must have had this because his sacrifice was pleasing to God.

"And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him." Genesis 4:8

Cain still had fellowship with his brother, but because of his inner anger against God, he gave place to the devil. And it was the prompting of the devil that caused Cain to slay Abel. Perhaps the devil lied to Cain and told him if his brother was out of the way, God would receive him.

When Jesus faced the religious system of His day, He informed them:

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44

The devil was a murderer from the beginning. So we know by the words of Jesus, it was the devil that lied to Cain to get him to murder his brother Abel.

"And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?" Genesis 4:9

When Cain proclaimed, "I know not," he proved who he was serving. As Jesus declared, the devil was the father of all liars. When Cain lied, he confessed the devil was his father.

We need to also learn a lesson in this verse - - - truly we are our brothers' keepers.

God then pronounced judgment upon Cain because he had murdered his brother.

"And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand. When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear." Genesis 4:11-13

The same is true today. Anyone who allows the devil access to their lives are truly vagabonds from the ways and reality of God. And they find, or will find, their punishment is greater than they can bear. Cain cried out:

"Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from Thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me."

And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him." Genesis 4:14-15

God set a mark upon Cain. Let's look at this mark. The word mark is the Hebrew word OWTH. This word is only translated as mark once. It was translated as the word sign sixty times. So it was not a physical mark that God placed upon Cain, it was a sign. It is by this same sign we recognize something or someone. Our actions are a sign of how we think. So the mark God put on Cain was a sign. We can truly recognize those who have the Mark of Cain in their life by the way they act, live, and think. Many times we hear about someone having the Mark of Cain in their lives. The author always questioned, "Who, on the ark, carried the Mark of Cain through the flood?" Well, the answer is clear if you consider the acts of Ham, Noah's second son. Moses recorded:

"And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard. And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent." Genesis 9:18, 20 & 21

There have been many theories put forth about Noah's getting drunk, but we know he got drunk, and probably passed out in his tent. The word we want to look at is uncovered. Many believe Noah lay naked in his tent. Many teach Ham performed an act of sodomy on his father, but if it was an act of sodomy that Ham performed on his father, why was Ham's son, Canaan, cursed?

The word uncovered is the Hebrew word GALAH and was translated uncovered thirty-four times. It was also translated discovered twenty-nine times. So let's consider for the time being the Hebrew word GALAH should have been translated as the word discovered. So Noah was discovered drunk and passed out in his tent.

"And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without." Genesis 9:22

Ham saw his father's nakedness. By the word we need to understand what his father's nakedness was. To do this we must look at God's law:

"The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness." Leviticus 18:8

The nakedness of the father is his wife. Moses continued to explain the nakedness of the man is his wife:

"Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.

And if a man shall lie with his uncle's wife, he hath uncovered his uncle's nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless." Leviticus 18:16 & 20:20

So when Ham went into Noah's tent, and discovered he was passed out in a drunken stupor, he uncovered his father's nakedness (his mother) and had an incestuous relationship with her. This relationship produced the cursed son Canaan. Further proof of this was:

"And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness." Genesis 9:23

Why would Shem and Japheth walk backwards if they were going to cover Noah. That kind of modesty does not exist among men. No, it was because they knew it was a sin to look upon the nakedness of their mother.

"And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren." Genesis 9:24-25

When Noah sobered up and understood what Ham had done, he cursed the son of this incestuous act. Canaan was to be a servant to all his brothers. Does the name Canaan sound a lot like Cain? The Mark of Cain is also on all who are bound by their illicit activities, who serve their father, the devil - - - and their judgment is the same as that which fell upon Cain. We discover this mark in the offspring of Canaan:

"And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth. And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite:

And afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha." Genesis 10:15-19

The Mark of Cain was upon all Canaan's offspring; and God's judgment remained upon them. When God freed Israel from their Egyptian bondage, it was the offspring of Canaan who occupied all the land. God's judgment was to be complete. Israel was told to to slay all these descendants of Canaan. God's judgment hand is upon all who have the Mark of Cain.

Moses also declared the borders of the Canaanites were from Sidon unto Gaza. This includes Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim. These were the four cities of the plains that were destroyed in the time of Abraham when God's angels delivered Lot before the fire and brimstone fell upon these four cities. God's judgment hand is sure, swift and complete upon all who display the Mark of Cain.

Let's look again at the words of Jesus when he addressed the Jewish religious system of His day:

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44

Jesus informed them they were of their father the devil. All who have the Mark of Cain have the devil as their father. The devil was a murderer and liar from the beginning. The Jews proved who their father was, and that they had the Mark of Cain, when they cried out at Jesus' trial, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" And when Pilate wanted to let Jesus go, the Jews cried out the more, "Crucify Him!" Instead, they desired the murderer Barabas to be set free, and that Jesus die in his place.

"When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children." Matthew 27:24-25

The Jews cried out, "Let His blood be upon us and on our children." Their actions proved they had the Mark of Cain. As we check Jewish history, we discover the curse God put upon Cain has become very plain in the lives of the Jews:

"Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me." Genesis 4:14

The Jews have been driven out of almost every nation they have tried to dwell in. They have, indeed, been vagabonds all over the earth, and they have been slain in most of the nations where they have lived, and this includes the United States. The Holocost in Germany killed millions of Jews. Jesus' blood is still upon the Jews, and the judgment of the Mark of Cain is evident in their lives.

John recorded Jesus' words when he spoke of the devil to the religious Jews:

". . . because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44b

We live in an age when lying has become an art form. Since the `60's our children have learned to say whatever the parents want to hear. If this includes lying, so be it.

One of our most popular Presidents stated: "Lying is just a part of politics." So we know the promises made by the politicians have no value because they are serving their father, the devil.

As Jesus stated, "He (the devil) is a liar, and the father of it." When the politicians make promises they do not intend to keep or promises they cannot fulfill, then they are serving their father, the father of all liars - - - and by their lies we know they have the Mark of Cain on their lives. The all-wise Solomon addressed the lying tongue:

"A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue." Proverbs 17:4

The wicked listen to false lips because they all serve the same father. As Solomon relates, the liar gives ear to a naughty tongue. Those who have the Mark of Cain want to believe the perverse things the naughty tongue speaks. Solomon declared the things the Lord hates:

"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea seven are an abomination unto Him:  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." Proverbs 6:16-19

The six things the Lord hates is a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that run to mischief, and a false witness that speaks lies. Solomon lists six things the Lord hates, but the seventh thing is an abomination to Him. It is those who sow discord (strife and contention) among the brethren. Those who cause strife and contention in the body of Christ reveal the Mark of Cain in their life. Solomon continues his explanation of a lying tongue:

"And a lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin." Proverbs 26:28

A lying tongue hates those who are afflicted by it. A lying tongue cannot be trusted, and it ruins relationships. A liar is no different then a thief - - - neither can he be trusted, and no one wants him around. The Mark of Cain is evident in every liar's life. The beloved John gives us further insight into the life of a liar:

"He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in Him." I John 2:4

Those who claim to be Christians, but do not keep His commandments are liars, and there is no truth in them. One of the Lord's Ten Commandments is "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain." The word vain means "something that has no value." Only those who claim to be Christians, but do not keep and live By God's Word have taken His name in vain. The Bibles contains God's commandments man is to live by. If they claim to know Him, but do not live by His Word, then they become liars, and openly display the Mark of Cain to all around them. Paul gives us insight to others who display the Mark of Cain:

"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." Romans 1:21-22, 24 & 26-27.

Paul is writing about homosexuals, lesbians, transvestites, and all other forms of sodomy. The Sodomites display the mark or sign of Cain. When they become Sodomites their demeanor changes, their speech changes, generally their dress changes - - - everything in their life changes.

Most mass murders in the past century were by Sodomites who killed their victims to conceal their sin. These are no different than Cain who killed Abel. Now society is saying they were born homosexuals and lesbians, etc. In doing so, modern society has stated these are alternate lifestyles, and should be accepted. How soon society has forgotten that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this same sin.

Sodomites are permitted to teach our children in public schools, hold public office, wear the uniform of our armed forces, and march in our streets. Laws have even been passed to punish those who reject their way of life. Paul gave us further insight by the Spirit as to what God thinks about that way of life:

"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;" Romans 1:28

God has turned the Sodomite over to a reprobate mind. Paul continues his explanation concerning those who have a reprobate mind:

"Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Romans 1:29-32

Paul explains that those who do such things are worthy of death - - - and those who do the same, or have pleasure in them, or approve their lifestyle are also worthy of death. Paul also listed others who reveal the Mark of Cain in their lives:

"For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;" I Timothy 1:10

Paul listed as number one, whoremongers. The word whoremonger means "a male prostitute, a man who believes God has put every woman on earth for his pleasure." These cannot be faithful to a wife. This Mark of Cain is especially evident in politicians, sports, and movie stars.

# 2    Paul also lists men stealers which are kidnappers. In most cases, kidnappers kill their victims to hide their terrible act. We see this more and more in this sinful, corrupt society. We need to ask ourselves, "Can God's judgment be far off?" All those who display the Mark of Cain will be judged by God.

# 3    In Paul's list, he mentions murder. Peter informs us:

"But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters." I Peter 4:15

Today, because of the threat of terrorism, many Christians have armed themselves. We need to stop and think. If they intend to use this armament to protect themselves, their families, and their property, then they have murder in their hearts. Peter warned us not to suffer as a murderer.

But what about self-defense? If we intend to defend ourselves, why do we need God? How is the world going to see God in us if we do not need God? David was our example of not defending himself. He was chased by Saul and his whole army. Yet David knew God was his defense. He wrote many Psalms declaring God's defense in his life:

"My defense is of God, which saveth the upright in heart." Psalm 7:10

"Because of His strength will I wait upon Thee: for God is my defense." Psalm 59:9

"Unto Thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy." Psalm 59:17

"He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved." Psalm 62:2

Those who use their armament to destroy human life are no different than Cain. We all need to decide who we are going to trust in, the arm of the flesh or to rest in the hand of God. Those who want to defend themselves are openly displaying the Mark of Cain, the beast nature, the survival of the fittest.

Those who depend on their supply of arms need to ask themselves who they are going to trust in when they run out of ammunition? The Mark of Cain rests upon all those who have murder in their hearts.

When Jesus spoke to the religious system of His day, He told them they were of their father, the devil, which was a murderer from the beginning. He also stated the devil was the father of all liars. Many of the religious systems of our day are no different.

One of the most aggressive and fastest growing religions in our day is Islam (Muslims). The Muslim's holy book is called the Quran or Koran. The Koran is broken down into surahs or chapters. There are one hundred and fourteen surahs (chapters) in the Koran. There are 6666 verses in the Koran.

Sometime back a man by the name of Rushdie wrote a book called "The Satanic Letters" which exposed the Muslims holy book for what it is. Because of his revelations, there was a hit list put out on him all over the world. They wanted to kill him for writing the truth about the Koran, truly proving who was and is their father. The Mark of Cain is upon all who subscribe to their false religion.

Muslims are guilty of most of the terror attacks in the world today, yet the news media continues to report this is only a radical few who are causing all the problems. But in reality, all Muslims must swear adherence to the Koran. When a newscaster asked a Muslim man who are considered to be infidels, his reply was, "Non-believers" or those who do not follow the Muslim religion.

The newsman then questioned, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to heaven. Is that correct?" The answer from the man was, "Yes!"

The Muslims all deny they are not bound to a religious Jehad on all non-believers. They continue to state, "It is only a radical few who are the terrorists." So, let's check the Koran to see what it states. Quoting chapter 9.014:

"Fight them (infidels) and Allah will punish them by your (Muslim) hands." 9.014

"Allah will afflict you (infidels) with punishment from himself (Allah) or by our (Muslims) hands." 9.052

We must remember all who convert to Islam must swear to these verses. The Muslim religion states all non-believers are infidels. All who swear to uphold the Koran must then kill the infidels to go to heaven.

This is the promise made to the suicide bombers. Their families are given money or other rewards so they will allow their children to blow themselves up to kill the infidels. We need to realize that no one can commit suicide (the killing of oneself) or commit murder, or become a suicide bomber without satan's finger being on the trigger of the gun, the handle of the knife, or the detonation devise on the bomb. All these have the Mark (or sign) of Cain in their lives. This is because there is no light in them.

Muslim terrorists always dress in black with their face covered. Islam is satan's religion. Other false religions have these same ideas about non-believers of their religion. They are just as radical as the Muslims. The message is the same for all false religions. They are against anyone who believes differently than they do.

This is why there are so many different denominations. All claim to believe in the same God and are brothers in the Lord, yet they backbite, speak against, and maline those who are not part of their denomination. The beloved John spoke much about those who subscribe to these denominational beliefs:

"He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now." I John 2:9

These walk on in darkness, stumbling over the truth, and cannot understand the ways of God. John even compared these to Cain:

"For this is the message that ye have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous." I John 3:11-12

Like Cain, when someone disagrees with their denominational order, they kill those who are supposed to be their brothers and sisters with their mouths. Their words are as deadly as any knife or gun.

Unlike the true believers, these only confess Christ with their mouths and hate those of other denominations. These are no different than the Muslims. These, too, have the Mark of Cain in their lives, and their own works are evil. John continues:

"Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." I John 3:15

One who hates their brothers is a murderer, just as Cain. There will be no eternal life for those who have the Mark of Cain in their lives. As Jesus warned in His revelation to John:

"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Revelation 21:8

Jesus listed all those who have the Mark of Cain in their lives. This list includes the fearful, unbelievers, the abominable (those who abhor God), murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars. Those who are guilty of these things will have their part in the Lake of Fire which destroys the soul. All those guilty of the afore mentioned sins have the Mark of Cain in their life and will suffer the second death. Paul revealed to the church at Rome:

"But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile." Romans 2:8-9

Those who are contentious and those who obey not the truth (the Word of God) - - - but instead obey unrighteousness, indignation, and wrath (anger) can only expect tribulation and anguish (distress). This is what those who do evil can expect. This includes first the Jew, and also the Gentile (those without God).

As we have learned the Mark of Cain was not a physical mark, but a sign. God has marked His people also. Jesus revealed to John:

"And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea," Revelation 7:2

And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads." Revelation 9:4

This, too, is not a visible seal, but a sign. Those who have been sealed by God will not be harmed by the wrath of God or the second death. So what is the sign we can recognize in those who have the seal of God? Jesus informed us:

"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!" Matthew 6:22-23

The eye is the window of the body. The eye reveals the innermost part of man. The eye shows pain, rejection, and failure. Everything the body suffers is revealed in the eyes.

The same is true for those who know their God and live by His Word. Love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance, patience, and righteousness are beautifully evident in their eyes. We recognize these as the fruit of the indwelling Spirit. Yes, and when longsuffering comes, the peace of God will be seen in the eyes as God takes us through times of testing.

When People look into our eyes, do they see the peace of God or the rage of satan? We need to look at our life to know if we are sealed by God or marked by Cain.
