The New Wine is made of the finest, fresh fruit. It is a sweet, invigorating wine, not bitter. Most wine was bitter because it was fermented to keep the wine from spoiling. No sweetness was added. It was similar to a grape vinegar. You could drink more of the New Wine because it was more palatable; and therefore more intoxicating.

On the Day of Pentecost when those in the Upper Room were endowed with the Holy Spirit all accused them of drunkenness.

"Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine." *** Acts 2 :13

"Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;" Ephesians 5:17-18

Paul told us not to be unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. What is the will of the Lord in each of our lives? It is not to be drunk with wine or intoxication. But the will of the Lord in our lives is to be filled with the New Wine of the Holy Spirit.

The prophet Joel spoke much about the New Wine in these last days, and what has happened to the anointing in God's people.

"Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the New Wine; for it is cut off from your mouth." *** Joel 1:5

Joel speaks of a distinction between those who are drunk on wine. We can liken this to the Pentecostal movement who are drunk on wine, yet the new wine is cut off from their mouths.

They have the spirit, but it is a religious spirit, and they are drunk on the old wine of religion. The New Wine is cut off from them because they are not seeking the New Wine, but are satisfied with their old, religious spirit.

"The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the New Wine is dried up, the oil languisheth." *** Joel 1:10

The field (world) is wasted. The land (God's people) mourneth. The corn (Spiritual food) is wasted. The New Wine is dried up, and the oil (anointing) languisheth. This is where the worldly, religious system is today. The New Wine is dried up and the anointing languisheth. The word languisheth means "to be weak and exhausted."

Joel gives us hope of the revival of God's people in the last days. This is not going to be a revival to fill the church pews, but to fill God's people with the New Wine of the Holy Spirit.

"And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim." *** Joel 3:18

When you see the phrase "In that day" in God's Word it refers to the day that lies directly ahead of us. The mountains shall drop down New Wine. This is the Lord's Double Portion Anointing.

The hills will flow with milk in the Kingdom of God. Judah, the people of praise, will flow with the water of the Word. Jesus promised water would flow from our innermost being. The Word coming forth in those filled with the New Wine of the Holy Spirit will bring life to everything it touches. This New Wine will produce fountains of living waters.

This water will come forth from the house of the Lord. Who is the house of the Lord? God's Spirit filled people are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Joel tells us this living water will fill the Valley of Shittim. Shittim was the last camp before Israel crossed the Jordan into their promise land. When are we going to receive this New Wine without measure? It will be just before we cross the river of death in the Kingdom of eternal life.

"Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month." *** Joel 2:23

This is the time we will receive the early and latter rain together in the first day of the New Day. What great promises God has made for those who will enter into His New Day of the Kingdom of God!

"And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust have eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and My people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and My people shall never be ashamed." Joel 2:24-27

All our needs and desires will be fulfilled in that day - - - a day of wondrous glory, praise and worship.

Who is the New Wine for? Jesus gives us this answer:

"Neither do men put New Wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put New Wine into new bottles, and both are preserved." *** Matthew 9:17

When you try to put New Wine in the old wine skins of religion, the New Wine simply runs out through the holes of their old traditions. Those who are going to be part of the New Wine anointing are God's new creation that have been prepared to receive it.

The old, religious system is not looking for the New Wine because they think they have it all now. Those who are not looking for the New Wine are not seeking God for what He is going to do next. The prophet Amos tells us:

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt." *** Amos 9:13

The New Wine is going to come like a flood. And only those who are looking for it will receive it. It will be a move of God like never before. God's purpose in all other moves of God was to reveal Himself to a people. The purpose of this move of God will be to empower His people with power they never knew existed.

The New Wine is the Double Portion anointing which those who have been prepared will receive. How can we be ready to receive this next move of God?

"And when He was demanded of the Pharisees, when the Kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:20-21

Those who will receive the New Wine Anointing are those who have learned God's Kingdom ways. God cannot put His Kingdom on the earth until He gets the Kingdom in the earth. Luke continues:

"And He said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in His day." *** Luke 17:22-24

God's New Day and His New Anointing is going to come with great power upon those who are ready to receive it, and the world is going to stand in great awe of what God is doing in His people. Luke records:

"But New Wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved." *** Luke 5:38

When the New Wine is put in new wine skins, then both the wine skin and the anointing will be preserved. Paul spoke of our day:

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." *** I Thessalonians 5:23

There is a preserving of God's holy people. Their spirit (life) will be preserved. Their soul will be preserved. And their body will be preserved until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Haggai relates:

"And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the New Wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands." *** Haggai 1:11

God has called a drought (dryness) upon the New Wine in today's lukewarm church system. All many speak of is "The Here and Now". They do not speak of the New Wine or the wine press. In Bible times, every husbandman had two things they valued highly: their winepress and their threshing floor. If we do not endure the threshing floor now and allow all the chaff and things of this life to be removed from our lives, then we are destined for the winepress. Jesus revealed to John on the Isle of Patmos:

"And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs." Revelation 14:19-20

We must realize the vine does not consist of worldly people. The vine consists of those who have not brought forth fruit. And these will be cast into the fires. Jesus spoke that the wrath of God is the destroying fire.

Notice, too, the winepress was trodden without the city. Those in the city, the New Jerusalem, will not be part of the judgement upon those in the wrath. Those in the city will be those who receive the New Wine to do the greater works of God.

Many who have had a glimpse of this vision have lost it, and the multitude in the valley of decision have never had this vision. The prophet Hosea speaks of this people:

"Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor. The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the New Wine shall fail in her." Hosea 9:1-2

The multitude of Christianity today have gone a whoring from their God, loving a reward upon every corn floor (threshing floor). The word reward means "hiring a prostitute." These have prostituted themselves and gone a whoring from their God, selling their relationship with their God for the things of this life.

The threshing floor nor the winepress shall feed them - - - or the works of their hands will not meet their needs. But most of all the New Wine shall fail them.

There is a New Wine Anointing. It is the Double Portion Anointing. It is ours to be had, if our lives merit God's blessing. Even now we are on the threshing floor - - - and it may not be pleasant - - - but the winepress will be much worse. We can survive the threshing floor, but no one will survive the winepress.
