Strip The
Willow
by Kelly Elliott
I hung my harp upon the branch of a willow
On my journey from freedom to bondage
The songs of Zion to my ears rang hollow
Flooding my soul with a lonesome sorrow.
Captive in a land that showed no mercy
I was held longer than I care to remember
When I came to myself, I fell down and cried
As I rememberd the days of Zion.
A longing took hold of my heart that day.
Bowing down before the Lord, I cried,
"Grant me, I pray, that I might find my way
Back to my home of Zion.
Released in an instant from bondage to freedom
In His mercy, He awakened my desire
So I stripped my harp from the willow
And headed back to my beloved Zion.
