Sea Sick
by Kelly  Elliott

Standing at the helm of my vessel,
Confused as to which way to go,
Dark clouds obscuring the heavens,
My compass no longer aglow,

Fear falls like the evening around me.
What I would give for a glimpse of the Sun
To peek through the clouds of my darkness,
Chart my course and set my vessel to run.

My sails I've let down in this tempest,
Torn and frayed by this stormy sea.
O what I would give for a glimpse of the Sun,
Just a ray would rescue me.

Driven by the wind to give up the helm,
Beat down by the crashing of the waves,
O what I would give for a glimpse of the Sun;
My vessel I'm sure it would save.

Lying on the deck of my vessel,
My tears mingle with the salt of the sea.
No longer will I rise to stand at the helm
Where the waves come crashing over me.

You, my God, are my glimpse of the Sun,
Without You how dark is the night.
Come take the helm, O Captain of my Salvation.
Through rough seas sail me safely to the light.
