"Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore." Joshua 3:4

As we look around, we do not recognize what we see as what we know. Everything appears to have taken on change. The things that seemed dependable just a short time ago, are shaken to the core. Large corporations look for mergers because of failing profits. Jobs, held by employees for years, go out the window. Pension funds are broke and the dollar is worthless.

This shaking has even affected the ministers of God. Many state they feel as if God has put them on a shelf and they are not being used. Those who were very busy in the past, have witnessed dwindling congregations. Some have lost whole congregations and have been forced to close their work. Some have suffered setbacks healthwise, and have had to restrict their activities.

So we ask, "God what is going on?" The Word states that there is to be a time of shaking. The writer of Hebrews proclaimed:

"See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused Him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven:

God is not only shaking the earth, He is shaking the heaven, or the Spiritual realm. So we ask, "Why the shaking?" To remove those things that bring no profit to God. The things that cannot be shaken will remain, that we may receive the kingdom that cannot be moved. Hebrews 12:28

Zechariah spoke of this day:

"And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: But it shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light." Zechariah 14:6-7

This is the day that is neither light nor dark. Zechariah spoke of a day that would not be clear; a day when light was not clear. This is that day. The children of light are not seeing clearly. There is a sense of expectancy, but they are not knowing what to expect or when to expect it.

When the day is not light or dark, it is eventide. We are in the eventide of time. When we look at the Bible we come to the understanding that, in Bible times, the NEW DAY began in the evening, approximately 6:00 P.M., not at 12:00 A.M. as we know today. So, the eventide was the beginning of a NEW DAY. We are about to walk into that NEW DAY. Praise God!

Eventide was the time to get everything completed before the total darkness set in. As we stand in this time, we see the world about to be plunged into that total darkness. This is the eventide, the time just before total darkness, that God has given us to become prepared for that day of darkness.

That day of darkness is when God pours out His wrath upon the earth; "The Day of the Lord". Joel saw this day and recorded it that we may see and understand.

"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations." Joel 2:2

Joel stated that we were to sound the trumpet. The trumpet is the voice of the prophet. The prophets of the land are to be sounding a warning of this coming day of the Lord's wrath. The day of wrath is a day of darkness, and of thick darkness. The earth will be plunged into this total darkness. This is the time when satan is cast to earth. His angels, that have been bound since their fall, will be cast to earth and will torment mankind to the point of man wanting to die but will be unable to. Mankind will not be able to put off the satanic attack. They will suffer because they have refused God and His Word. These disobedient will become the total servants to the one they chose to serve.

As we read in Joel 2:2, it says: "...as the morning spread upon the mountains..."

When the morning covers the mountains, it cannot be hid. All eyes are able to see the sunrise upon the mountains.

". . .A great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations."

When the world is plunged into darkness, God is going to have a people who will shine like the sunrise on the mountain. There has never been a people like this and never will be again. A people so endued with God's power and glory that all who see them will know who they are. These people are the ones that the Sun of Righteousness has risen upon with healing in His wings. Malachi 4:2

This is the day that lies directly ahead of us, His chosen, His elect and His predestined people. As we look ahead to that day with excitement, we must say to ourselves, "If God has chosen me to be that people, what should I be doing today to prepare for the service He has planned for my life?"

This is the "Day of Preparation". Many are not being prepared because their hope lies in a false belief that they will be taken out before this day comes. Their hope is not in the glory that will be revealed in this people whom God is preparing. But their hope is in being transported to a safe haven while God's wrath is being poured out.

These fear the sword. God spoke through Ezekiel,

"Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord God." Ezekiel 11:8

In this day when things are not clear, the Word should become very clear. For this is the day the Word foretells God's chosen of the times we live in. This should be a day of promise, a day of excitement, a day of expectation, and especially a "Day of Preparation"!

This is also the day of overlapping. We are about to finish the day of grace. Then will come the full day, the 1000 year day. Before there is a change in dispensations, there is always a day, or time, of overlapping. This time of overlapping is evident throughout the Word.

Before the Law, Moses lived under grace forty years. In the book of Genesis, God recorded,

"Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed..." Genesis 9:6

Moses was a murderer, but God's grace protected Moses the rest of his life. Moses was in the time of overlapping between the grace of creation and the day of law.

When the day of Judges ended, Samuel was in the time of overlapping. Samuel was the last judge and anointed the first two kings, Saul and David. The day of law extended to the time of Jesus.

When the day of law ended, Jesus was the time of overlapping. Jesus was born under the law, lived under the law and died under the law. But on the day of pentecost, the law ended. For Christ, the Holy Spirit, is the end of the law. Romans 10:4

The day of grace began at pentecost and continued until now. But the day of grace is ending and the day of His kingdom is at hand. We live in this time of overlapping. We live under grace and will become the kingdom of God.

Paul wrote of this day.

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." I Corinthians 13:12

Now we see through a glass darkly. The word glass should have been "mirror". We are viewing the events of today as a reflection of what is revealed in the Word. We can almost see it, but not quite. We are viewing it darkly now, but when that NEW DAY breaks, we will see face to face.

The Bible says God spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend, Exodus 33:11. There was no veil on Moses' face when he spoke to God. When that NEW DAY dawns, the veil will have been removed, and we will see Him face to face. Then we shall know even as also we are known.

How are we known? We are known by our name. We will know Him as well as we know our own name. But today, we know only in part. We are still in the time of looking through a glass darkly; the day that is neither light nor dark, the evening of time, the evening of the sixth day. The seventh day is on the horizon, but it has not yet broke forth in all its glory.

Jesus spoke of the 3rd day. As Peter revealed,

"...One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." II Peter 3:8

So, a day with God is 1000 years. It has been less than 2 days since Jesus walked on the earth. It has also been less than 6 days since the Adam creation. In some places, the Word speaks of the 3rd day as being the millennial reign of Christ. In other places, this same 1000 year day is referred to as the 7th day. They both refer to the same period of time.

"And He said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected." Luke 13:32

Jesus spoke of the third day when He would be glorified. The first 2 days are the 2000 years from the time of Christ. This represents the time of cloven tongues anointing on the church; the day of cures (healings) and deliverance from satan's hold on the lives of God's people. These 2 days are the day of overcoming.

We should ask: "How is Christ going to be perfected?" He was already perfect in every aspect. He was speaking of His being perfected in His saints.

"When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe ... in that day." II Thessalonians 1:10

But before this day of glorification and perfection, there is always the "Day of Preparation". Before every feast, there was a "Day of Preparation". This was the day when all preparations were made for the feast days. No labor could be performed on the sabbath days.

Jesus went to the cross on the "Day of Preparation". His life is an example to us. Let us relate Jesus' "Day of Preparation" to ours. When Jesus went to the cross, it signified the end of the flesh. We must come to the end of our flesh, or more properly, to the end of the flesh control in our lives. We must come to the place where we live and walk in the Spirit.

Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with His disciples. The Last Supper was the Feast of Passover before the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The Feast of Passover was on the 14th day of Abib. The Feast of Passover was not on a specific day of the week. It was a day of the month; the 14th day of the month. Therefore, the supper feast was on the evening before the Feast of Passover. Exodus 12:6-11, Matthew 26:17-19 and Luke 22:7-18

Jesus made a covenant with His disciples and with the whole world at this Feast Supper. This covenant was a covenant of love. A covenant is a testament the dead make with the living while the testator still lives. But it does not come into effect until after the testator dies. Hebrews 9:17

The testament Jesus made with the world came into effect on the cross when He laid down His life for His friends. Jesus stated,

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

Who are the friends of Jesus?

When we come into this place in Him, we are no longer servants but friends. This is when we come into total obedience to the voice of the Spirit.

What is His commandment? The only commandment He gave was to love; Love God, Love one another and Love your enemies. All the other commandments are fulfilled in that love. Matthew 22:37-40

Therefore, in our "Day of Preparation", we must come into a Love Covenant with our God and our fellow man, especially those of the faith.

What other example did Jesus leave us? After the Feast Supper, Jesus girded Himself about and bowed at His disciples' feet and became the lowest form of servitude. The least of the servants in the household washed the feet of guests, John 13:4-17. Jesus stated that He did not come to be served, but to serve. We must come to this place of servitude to enter into the kingdom. The greatest in the kingdom will be a servant.

Jesus also stated that the least in the kingdom would be greater than John, Luke 7:28. And John was the greatest man that had lived until his time. If we are to be part of the kingdom, then in our "Day of Preparation", we must develop a servant's heart.

After this, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives. It was said of Jesus, that He left His disciples and went a little further, Matthew 26:38-39. If we are to walk where Jesus walked, we must go beyond the place of discipleship. A disciple is a learner. We must come into apostleship. An apostle is one who is sent. We are learners for a number of years, but when we come into the place where we are usable, then we must be sent to do His will in the earth.

Many, today, are still learning, never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, II Timothy 3:7, because they have rejected the Holy Spirit direction in their lives. Before we can be used, we must be sent by God into His service.

Jesus' words to His disciples were to "Pray that ye enter not into temptation," Luke 22:40. This should be our prayer, also. That we fall not into temptation, but that the Father deliver us from temptation; that our eyes only be on the One who has gone on before. We should be praying for deliverance from the things of the flesh; the lust of the flesh, and lust of the eyes and the pride of life, I John 2:16. When we are working in the spirit, with our eyes continually on the Father, flesh cannot tempt us.

As we listen to the prayer of Jesus,

"Father, if Thou be willing, remove this cup from Me: nevertheless not My will, but Thine, be done." Luke 22:42

Jesus knew the terrible things He must suffer. He knew of the cup He must drink, but His reply to the obvious answer of the Father was: "Not My will, Father, but Your will." We need to come to this place in our "Day of Preparation".

As we look ahead to the terrible events coming upon the earth, we must prepare to proclaim, "Father, have Your will in my life in this, also." Most are crying, "Take me out of this before anything happens!" Have you not heard the Father's heart? It is necessary for His sons to go through this time. It is the time of purification in the preparation for kingship.

Most do not want to be prepared. All they want to do is rule and reign. There will be no ruling and reigning without yielding our complete will to the Father.

The multitudes came to the garden to get Jesus. Jesus spoke to them,

"This is your hour, and the power of darkness..." Luke 22:53

We may wonder if hard times and persecution will come into our lives. By the inspiration of God, Paul wrote to Timothy,

"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." II Timothy 3:12

The power of darkness is coming. The three and one half years of tribulation will come upon God's people. It will be a time of purification and the bringing forth of the manifested sons of God. Just as Jesus had to suffer to come into His glorification, so must we suffer to come into ours.

In this "Day of Preparation", Jesus foretold that Peter would deny Him 3 times before the cock would crow. The cock crows in the early morning at the breaking of day. Before the third day comes, many will deny Him. This is called the Great Falling Away.

Before the day of Christ, two events will happen: The great falling away and the man of sin will be revealed, II Thessalonians 2:3. This, also, will happen in the "Day of Preparation".

Jesus was taken before the chief priests and rulers. He told us when we are taken before the chief priests and the councils, to take no thought as to what we will say, because the Holy Ghost will speak for us, Mark 13:11. This will also happen in our "Day of Preparation".

Jesus was finally brought before Pilate. Twice, Pilate said,

"I find no fault in this man." Luke 23:4

Jesus stood before His final judge and was pronounced innocent. We have this "Day of Preparation" to get our lives into a place where, when we stand before our final judge, He may pronounce us innocent and say,

". . .Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew 25:21

Jesus was crucified on the "Day of Preparation" of the Feast of Passover. The Feast of Passover was on Thursday. Jesus was put in the grave Thursday afternoon. Again, in Bible times, the beginning of the day was approximately 6:00 in the evening.

The days of the month in the Jewish calendar, much like our calendars today, did not fall on the same day of the week each year. So the Sabbath celebration of Passover was not always on Friday, but a different day each year. The year Jesus was crucified, the 14th of Abib fell on Thursday, the first day of the Feast of Unleaven Bread, a sabbath day.

The weekly Sabbath began on Friday evening. So they had two sabbaths in a row. Perhaps this will clear up the confusion of how Jesus was crucified on the weekly sabbath, laid in the tomb 3 days and arose Sunday morning.

Jesus laid in the grave Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night, and the women came to the tomb at daybreak, Sunday morning.

Jesus' life, though perfect, left us an example of the "Day of Preparation" He has set before us.

From the beginning, God spoke of the day that lies directly ahead of us.

"My Spirit shall not always strive with man..." Genesis 6:3

The word strive means "to contend or plead". God's Spirit is contending and pleading with man today to be prepared for the time ahead. He is striving to get His people to come into a place of inheritance that He may give them His reward when He comes.

Yet, many say, "I am just going to hold on and hope for the best." Jesus is not coming back for the "holders on". He is coming back for the "goers on"; the overcomers, not the overcome. If we are to inherit, we must come into the place of inheritance.

"Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father." Galatians 4:1-2

The children and the servants are not going to inherit. If we are inheritors, we must be prepared to come to the place of entering into sonship.

"But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." John 1:12

We have His power to become the sons. That power is the Holy Spirit. But, if we are to come into sonship, we must learn to walk and live in the Holy Spirit. If ye have not the Holy Spirit of Christ, you are none of His. Romans 8:9

We need to come into communion with the Spirit of God, the Power. Christ, the Holy Spirit, is the power and wisdom of God, I Corinthians 1:24. Those who come into total obedience to the Father's voice, as Jesus did, will be brought into sonship.

"He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." Revelation 21:7

As the world begins to travail, and as men's hearts begin to fail them for fear, we need to begin to rejoice that God has given us the knowledge of the time and the day to prepare our lives, so that we may be counted worthy to escape those things coming upon the earth. Luke 21:36

In Matthew 25:1-13, Jesus gives us the example of 10 virgins, ten being the number of completion, to reveal this "Day of Preparation". The virgins showed undefilement representing the complete undefiled church. Only one-half of these entered into the kingdom. The reason: 5 were wise and 5 were foolish. The word foolish is the word MOROS and means "dull or sluggish". Those who are not alert or aware, going along hoping everything will work out, living by faith that Jesus is going to come back and make everything all right, will be as the 5 foolish. We need to be as the 5 wise virgins, seeking and searching for God's will in our lives.

If Noah had the attitude of the 5 foolish virgins, he would have been in the flood like everyone else, without the protective ark God had planned for him and his family. God had prepared a place for Noah to keep the flood waters (the wrath of God) from him and his family and God's creation on the ark.

The five foolish virgins took their lamps of oil to meet the bridegroom, but they took no oil in their vessels. The vessel was the Vessel of Preparedness. Matthew says that, while the bridegroom tarried, the virgins all slumbered and slept. When the time came to go with the bridegroom, the 5 foolish had run out of oil. The oil represents the Holy Spirit in their lives. Their cup, or vessel, was not full and running over of the Holy Spirit.

Many of us are slumbering and sleeping, unprepared for the call of God. Unprepared to enter into the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

When the five foolish found their lamps, their Light of God had gone out. They tried to come into the place of preparation, but it was too late. The door was shut and the Marriage Supper was taking place without them. They were left on the outside, unable to enter into the protection of the Lord.

"While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept." Matthew 25:5

There are two groups in the undefiled church. The first group, as Jesus stated, were all asleep, as the five virgins were asleep. They had no eyes to see or ears to hear. They paid no attention to all the warning signs they were given and continued to sleep in their false hope and false security.

The second group are those who are prepared and can rest in the security of the Lord Jesus because they have followed His commandments and His example. They have taken advantage of this "Day of Preparation". They are ready to enter into the rest of the Lord. They realize that all the works were finished before the foundation of the earth. These have already entered into the joy of the Lord. They have loosed themselves from family, friends, the cares of this world and all possessions. They are ready to enter into the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Jesus said that if we are not free from all these things, we cannot be His disciple. Luke 14:26-27 & 33. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is going to be furnished with guests, not with all the things that we desire to hang on to. When the unwise found they were not prepared, they began to call to the others to share their preparation with them. This will not work. We cannot prepare for others. We can only prepare ourselves and warn the others to be prepared to come into a hearing relationship with the Father.

It is not His will that any should perish. But those who are unprepared will come crying, "Lord, Lord". The Father can only answer, "I never knew you. You never came into a knowing relationship with Me. You followed your traditions. You listened to man. You lived by his precepts and doctrines. Yes, you praised Me with your mouth, but your heart was far from Me. You did not separate yourself unto Me. All those things you would not separate yourself from, have separated you from Me. You went awhoring after the things of this world and you never came into a personal relationship with Me. I gave you a time to prepare for My return and you were too taken up with your life that you never became part of My life which I had planned for you."

Many will cry,

"Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?" Matthew 7:22

Nevertheless Jesus proclaimed,

"Why call ye Me Lord, Lord, and do not the things I say?" Luke 6:46

Many, today, are not seeing the light clearly. The light is not clear because it is clouded by the darkness that is all around it. The light is not bright enough yet, in God's people, to cause the darkness to completely flee away.

There will be a day that is not light, nor dark. A day unlike any day before in history. A day when the light of God will break into dawning. A day this world has never seen, nor heard, nor could even imagine. A day when the glory of God will shine forth in a people who are prepared to receive it.

Paul stated that the suffering that is coming cannot be compared to the glory that is going to be revealed in His people. Romans 8:18

We are in the evening of time, but it is still called Today. The writers of Hebrews stated it very well.

"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear His voice, harden not you hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was He grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believed not?" Hebrews 3:12-19

We are foretold that they could not enter in because of unbelief. This is today; "The Day of Preparation". It is time to prepare for our Sabbath, the seventh day of God's creation. This is the day to rejoice, praise, worship and look up! The night is coming when no man can work and that is the day of His wrath.

Get prepared while it is yet called Today.
