Question: A believer asks: Why would I want to survive nuclear holocaust or biological warfare? I don't want to live in a world that bizarre, broken and full of pain and suffering, and I certainly don't want my children and grandchildren to live in it either."
What is the Scriptural foundation for your statement " Be prepared, now for the coming day of devastation"?
Answer: Matthew recorded Jesus' words:
"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." Matthew 24:13
There must be an enduring aspect in our life if we are going to be saved. Most Christians are taught and believe, that just because they repeated Romans 10:9-10, they are saved. [see "Three Fold Salvation" ] This is a lie, and those who teach this are liars. Jesus told John on the Isle of Patmos:
"He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son." Revelation 21:7
Only those who overcome are inheritors. [see "The Overcoming Sons of God"] Those who do not overcome have no inheritance in Christ.
Dear Believer, where would we be today if Noah had not labored with his sons for 100 years to build an ark for the saving of his household? The Bible tells us, "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the son of man." All God's creation was on that ark. Noah was on the ark for 375 days. It probably was not a pleasant trip, but it would have been worse for all of us, had he not been obedient to the voice of God.
What about Joseph who labored seven years to store grain for the saving of his family and a whole nation.
Where would you be today if Jesus had called down 12 legions of angels to deliver Him from the cross?
The fire that was seven times hotter than normal could not touch Shadrach, Meshech, and Abendigo. And nuclear war cannot touch us, if we put our trust, our lives, and everything we own in His hand.
Paul, in his second letter to Timothy writes:
"For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day." II Timothy 1:12
Paul was a man who was stoned and left for dead. He was ship wrecked and tortured, but he never lost hope. His words were, ". . . I am persuaded that God is able to keep that which I have committed to God against that day."
Dear Believer, hope has all but faded from our present day society. In this world, many hold no solutions in continuing the direction mankind is heading. If we are to have hope, we must look at the promises. We must develop Spiritual eyes to see beyond today and tomorrow.
God has promised to make all things new, but first judgment must be poured out on this wicked, sinful world. [see "Day of Fire"]
The day of God's judgment is a time of darkness, gloominess, and thick darkness. It is the day when the light of God's truths have vacated the earth. It is when man chooses to live like animals, instead of walking in the light of the glorious gospel of truth.
But God has a people of vision who are viewing the morning, the new day, spread upon the mountains. [see "Men of Vision"] This is God's prepared and overcoming army. These are a group of great and strong people. Joel tells us there has never been a people like this before who have the Kingdom within and who are ready and able to bring His Kingdom rule upon the earth.
"A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them." Joel 2:3
This great army is in the midst of the fire of God's wrath. This fire is before them and behind them. But the land before them is like the Garden of Eden. These are men of vision. They are not looking at the situation around them, but they are living by their vision, the vision of a renewed earth in which they will rule and reign. Even though the earth is going to become a desolate wilderness in God's wrath, these men of vision are looking to God's promise that, "Behold, I make all things new," Revelation 21:5
"Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array." Joel 2:5
Joel speak about this strong people being in battle array, or they have on their battle armament. Now is the time to prepare, so we are ready to do battle in the days ahead. [see "Day of Preparation"]
