Vital Words To The Body of Christ from New Foundations Ministries

The  Third Day

One of God's main desires is that we understand His Word so we may draw strength and knowledge by every word that proceeds out of His mouth. Everything in God's Word has a meaning. Every number, color, direction, and day has a meaning. The two days most spoken of in the Bible are the Third Day and the Seventh Day. The third and the seventh day are the same day in God's timetable. The seventh day is measured from Adam. The third day is measured from Jesus.

The number three denotes divine perfection. The number seven denotes Spiritual perfection. The Third Day is when God's people will come into divine and Spiritual perfection. When the Pharisees told Jesus that Herod was going to kill Him, Jesus proclaimed:

"And He said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected." Luke 13:32

The today and tomorrow Jesus spoke of represents the church age. Peter proclaimed:

"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." II Peter 3:8

It has been almost two days since Jesus left the earth. As He stated, He will be perfected on the Third Day. The word perfected means completed, finished, and mature. God's body without spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish will be perfected on the Third Day. As the prophet Hosea revealed:

"After two days will He revive us: in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight." Hosea 6:2

It is after the two days of the church age, or on the third day that we will be raised up from our earthly existence to live in the sight of God.

Jesus related to His disciples that He would be delivered to the Gentiles:

"... to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: and the third day He shall rise again." Matthew 20:19

Jesus was raised from His death existence on the third day. We, too, will be raised from our death existence on the third day to live eternally in His sight.

The Seventh Day

The seventh day is when we come into Spiritual perfection. Mark recorded:

"And after six days Jesus taketh with Him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and He was transfigured before them." Mark 9:2

It was on the seventh day Peter, James, and John wit-nessed Jesus as Christ Jesus in all His Spiritual glory. The seventh day was spoken of in the book of Genesis:

". . . on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made." Genesis 2:2

On the seventh day God ceased from all His labor. He has never left His seventh day rest. He is waiting for His creation man to enter into His rest with Him.

"And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made." Genesis 2:3

God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it. The word sanctified means to con-secrate, or to set aside in a Spiritual realm. In his letter to the Hebrews, Paul spoke of the seventh day that lies directly ahead of us:

"For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, As I have sworn in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world." Hebrews 4:3

God has a people who will enter into His rest, those who have ceased from their own labors, and come to the understanding that all God's works were finished from the foundation of the world.

"For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all His works." Hebrews 4:4

God entering into His rest on the seventh day is a sign to us that we, too, will enter into our rest on the seventh day. This rest comes by and through the Holy Spirit. Paul explains:

"For if Jesus had given them rest, then would He not afterward have spoken of another day." Hebrews 4:8

Jesus did not bring us into our day of rest. Jesus came on the fifth day. Five is the number of grace. As John proclaimed:

"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." John 1:17

Jesus came on the fifth day to bring grace and truth to all mankind. Our seventh day rest comes on the seventh day. The seventh day is the day of the Lord, not a day of the week. Those who have kept themselves under the law keep a weekly sabbath. These have neglected to hear the words of Paul to the church at Rome:

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2

Moses' law was the law of sin and death. There was no forgiveness under Moses' law. Moses' law atoned man's sin. The word atone means to placate, set aside, or cover. When Jesus came He shed His sinless blood so man could be forgiven His sin. Then the Holy Spirit was given so man could overcome his sin nature. Paul wrote to those who choose to keep the law of Moses:

"For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." Galatians 5:3-4

Those who choose to keep the law arel not partakers of the grace and truth brought by Jesus Christ. They have no hope in the seventh day. Paul revealed to those under the law the meaning of their traditions:

"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ." Colossians 2:16-17

Ancient Israael's traditions were only a shadow of things to come. This includes seventh day worship. We must never loose sight of what Jesus did for His creation man.

Divine perfection comes on the third day, and on the seventh day we attain to Spiritual perfection. These are the same day when we will be raised up to live in God's sight. Paul further related:

"There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased form his own works, as God did from His." Hebrews 4:9-10

The future for God's people looks bright when we view it with Spiritual eyes.
